You have to be a little thick skinned when posting on the net. Folks tend to be a little more abrasive when they don't have to look you in the eye. I would not let that stop you from being a positive poster.

Sorry to hear that Aragon is leaving us. His experience with American Suzuki is a testament to the company. I know of many other companies that would stonewall until the adjustment period is over (or longer) before admitting that there was a problem with their paint.

The regional service rep is coming out to our dealership this week to look at owner complaints about chipping paint. It seems that the problem is pretty much confined to Platinum and Vivid Red. I can see them repainting the affected areas rather than the entire car from a cost standpoint. It would be good if they would also stand the cost of putting on the 3M clear paint cover (bra) too. I'd be interested to see how well the paint match goes on the Platinum. I've avoided silver for many years because it can be very difficult to match.

Hi I am a new member to this form and would like to talk about this paint chip issue. I purchased a New Black 2011 Kizashi SX AWD on Aug 18th, 2011. I took this car home on Aug. 18th after going over it with a very careful eye for about 20 mins. looking for any visible defects. I did not see any chips or scratches however the special coating they had applied did leave some marks ( looked like water marks but would not buff off ). Sales manager told me that the coating takes a few days to sink in. Anyway, I drove the car home that night ( aprox. 4 km ) and while admiring it in my driveway I noticed 4 very small paint chips ( White spots ) on my passenger door. I could not undersatnd how this occured in such a short time. The next day I took the car into work ( aprox. 70 km in and back ). That night I reinspected the car a found 2 new chips on the driver door. What is with the paint on these cars? I did contact Suzuki by e-mail and was told to go see the service guy at my dealership. Not sure how this will end but after years of buying 7 cars from GM I have never seen a paint issue like this. Any advice from fellow Kizashi owners would be great.

This may reflect a cultural issue in Japan, where it seems they first address any problems with denial (like Toyota did for years with the accelerator problems). Otherwise, it is hard to fathom why this has not been addressed - not exact;ly rocket science to paint cars at factories.

Again - I got lucky - have not had this issue at all and have over 8000 miles on my 2010 with the silver paint. My front end is pretty well protected by film, but have no noticeable chips on leading edges in other areas like other have experienced.

Based on his mentioning of kilometers for distances, he might not be in the US. Not sure how the numbering scheme goes in other places (he mentions an SX trim, so I don't think it's Canada, up here we have only one, unmarked, trim, plus we call 2011 what's sold as a 2010 in the US), so I thought I'd ask.

These things haven't exactly been flying off the dealerships' lots, so he might have gotten a pre-March one, even if bought in August (based on the reports on this site, paint problems seem to be confined to pre-March build dates).

Where would I locate the manufacture date? This car was bought in Canada, and sold as a 2011. I have an appointment with the dealership and a Suzuki Canada Rep. on the 25th. Hopefully they will do something for me. I'm up to 6 chips so far after 200 km.

There's a tag on the door jamb of the driver side door.
