There are superstars in Asia, and bums in the USA. The domestic suppliers have invested less in their facilities, and generally have less automated process control than their global competition - and I will take automated over human error any time.

I don't care where the "bulb" came from, or what 11 year old made it, I'm not buying the entire story. That "bulb" did not cause that failure. Maybe something was damaged during the installation, or something was shaky already and changing the lamp just triggered the failure.
