My A/C is almost always on...my car has the climate control system and it pretty much kicks on whenever I use defrost...and it doesn't automatically shut off. Quite honestly...the car stays pretty humid (even in the super cold), if it is not on. I am not sure what you mean by airing out the vents after using the A/C.
There is no smell. Definitely nothing like anti-freeze.
I park in my garage, pretty clean and dry.
No one is pranking me (that I know of).
I am still seeing it even after the filter was replace...but not as much.
Sluggo's theory seems like a very logical explanation...now...what do I do to stop it? Is it because I have the A/C on a lot?
I think you have a lot of moisture in the system because you are constantly running the A/C. By airing it out, I think what is meant is to run the fans but no A/C.
On the contrary to you, I hardly run the A/C unless it's the summer and it's very hot. I've never seen any residue coming from my vents. I also don't often use the recirculate mode.
Do you have the climate control system? It automatically turns the A/C on when you run it on auto...I am assuming by determining how much moisture there is in the car...but maybe I am giving it too much credit (maybe that is just the default). I have turned off the A/C, and it comes back on after a while...so I just don't pay much attention to it.
I guess if I ran the heat and stuff while not on auto, I would not have to worry about it, but I like using the auto feature because it does a really nice job of keeping the temp consistent in the car.

Yeah, I have it. In fact, it's standard on the Kizashi. All Kizashis have automatic dual climate control system. I just rarely use the A/C or the auto feature, especially now that it's winter.

I talked to the service guys about it and they said they had one other person complain about the same issue. They could not find a reason, but saw the white specks of (something), that was coming from my vents. I had them change my filter and went on my way...
In my opinion, it is almost like dried salt particles...not just normal dust. It is strange...and annoying since it really shows up on my charcoal interior. It seems to have died down with the filter change, but they showed me the old filter and I didn't really see anything on it that looked like what was coming into the car.
Has anyone else seen this? Thoughts on what it could be?
I also have the same white powder on my dash and also run the climate control on auto with the ac always running. I'll have to see if it comes from the defrost.
