Maybe I'm weird, but I think to minimize the probability of getting hit I park next to already parked cars. I figure if I park in a space with empty spaces on both (or three) sides I've got a substantial probability someone will hit me pulling in. If I park next to someone, preferably in between two (or three), I've at least reduced the probability that someone will hit me going in.
I also get protection from grocery carts. Now, if those people are far away from the rest of the crowd, they probably work at the store and are unlikely to be pulling out anytime soon.
What I guess I am not calculating is the probability that I'll get keyed by someone pissed off that I am crowding their beast!
Got keyed
