Well I was going to do a 4-wheel brake job. (pads, rotors and fluid flush) However I took it in for inspection first, kind of expecting it to fail for brakes but wondering if it would pass. Well it passed and now I'm trying to decide whether to do the brake job or put it off. Why replace something that's not quite ready to be replaced. No brake issues at all at 103K miles. Smooth firm stops. I'm amazed that I don't need brakes as I'm not easy on them. Maybe because the area I live in is flat as a pancake so I don't have those braking-while going-down-steep-hills events.
Yep, no need for sure. I rode my 95 Altima's brakes until 120k, so it's definitely not unheard of with the right pads and rotors.LPSISRL wrote:Well I was going to do a 4-wheel brake job. I saw recently that it seems our rears are not completely contacting the rotor on just the outboard pad. But with years of not really using them hard, I'm sure there's a reason. I'll have to tear into these at some point. I don't think it's the caliper locking issue that some have experienced as it seems the inboard side is full contacting like normal.
I didn't end up doing brakes. Mowed the lawn and took out a very ragged looking "bush". I bought Okebono pads awhile back but got Centric rotors that were about $50 apiece. Honestly, I did not check the OEM price on rotors. (which I am now about to do...)
Edit: I'm back. $259 for ONE rotor. I'll stick with the Centrics!

Typically I've found oem rotors to be more expensive in terms of value compared to performance rotors. But OEM pads end up being about the same price with performance pads. It really depends on what you want in pads though. I like mine with a lot of metal that eat the heck out of rotors vs dusting. Others want the opposite.LPSISRL wrote:I didn't end up doing brakes. So what I did today...hmmm...probably hit 115 when getting a bmw 135i off my back on the interstate. I don't think he couldn't keep up, but just chickened out above 100mph.
