What Did You Do With Your Kizashi Today?

Anything related to the Kizashi can go here, but please look at the other headings first. Your topic may fit better under something else.

The Suzukiparts.com site shows one for $3,500 but none to be had, it’s on back order. Huh forever maybe.

after 6 years of using the K&N engine air filter, I decided to change it back to the OE filter I noticed slightly better gas mileage with OE so I bought 5 sets of OE filters from Megazip for 23$ each

The cracking is usually caused by the support from manifold to oil pan being loose or omitted. Another cause is the exhaust flex being replaced with too small of a flex section or in a bind.
I discussed the weld with a mechanic who still works on these cars and a weld shop, the weld shop said not to because it will just cause it to crack along the edge of the weld. Can’t climb out of this issue, so I ordered a aftermarket canadian epa compliant one for $500 to use when this thing cracks all the way through . At least I don’t have to be carb compliant here in Oregon.

I use there oil filters when amsoil doesn’t sell one for a certain car, cartridge type. There rated to 20,000 miles, I feel the K&N’s are a little more restrictive then the OE’s and that’s why you get better mpg with the OE’s.

IMO k&n is a good alternative for engine air filter but I find OE safer to use after all it's designed for this car.

I used to use K&N air filters about twenty years ago on a different car. Now, I would stay away from them unless I was constantly offroading. For a car like the Kizashi, it's not an ideal kind of air filter. K&Ns are actually less restrictive than OE paper filters because K&N oiled fabric filters were specifically designed for allowing more airflow through dirt-clogged filters. The company is based in Southern California and invented their design for offroad desert racing, which is popular here. They became popular among all enthusiasts due to greater airflow properties, adding to power and better throttle sounds, but many independent tests have shown they allow more particles through than OE paper filters. Also, while K&Ns are reusable filters, you need to properly clean and reoil them. Improper service can cause oil to enter the intake. If you are one who wants a reliable, low-service vehicle to last a long time, a K&N is not the ideal kind of filter due to more particles passing through. It's really a design intended for dirt performance so unless you drive on dirt roads a lot, I don't think the pros outweigh the cons.

There was an in-depth discussion on this forum many years ago on this topic in which some data was presented. It was quite evident K&Ns had lower filtration than basically all paper filters, OE or name brand aftermarket.

@KuroNekko I completely agree I have 2 reasons to use it:
1- as you said " throttle sounds" I love the roaring sound when I go full throttle.
2- better quality than other aftermarket kizashi filters here especially Chinese crap ones.

but recently my cleaning kit for K&N is finished and the price for a new one is ridiculously high here so I decided to switch back to OE filter.

Just replace with a good aftermarket every 15,000 miles, otherwise sooner if you’re driving through sand storms.
