Ain't done nuthin'.

The Continental ExtremeWinterContact tires are now almost 3,000 miles old, and they've gotten seriously tested since Nov. 23rd around here; black ice, white ice, deep unplowed and plowed snow, slush, freezing rain, we've had it all.
GREAT tire, with excellent lateral grip.
When they do lose traction they do so fairly progressively.

I should add my VSC/traction control is completely disabled due to the lack of mounted tire pressure sensors

I haven't crashed (yay!).

Underbody flaps still attached. One with wire ties.....

The system disables the stability and traction because of no tyre pressure feedback? That's crazy!? :o

The Aussie Kizashi's don't have the TPMS and their stability and traction systems work just fine.

I rode in a friend's K yesterday, and his TPMS lights are blinking, too.

Snow tires, see?......

With no TPMS sensors installed, that's a given! It won't be because the tyres fitted are made for snow. ;)

Around here it is common for owners to acquire a separate set of wheels (normally 'steel') with mounted snows so the owner can swap themself.

Like my friend.

See?

Yes, I'm well aware of the tyre/ wheel swapping in snowy areas of the world. It must a pain in the behind having to do that (and store the other wheels!)

How much would the extra set of TPMS sensors to fit the snow tyres cost? Losing ESP and traction control is hardly a desirable outcome in those conditions.

I know when you buy new wheels from tire rack, they are like a $29 per tire option. I'm sure is a good deal more to by them and mount them later.

Is anyone really sure the ESP and traction control don't work without them? I wouldn't think no TPMS would really have any affect other than the annoying blinky light.....

Yes, it seems crazy for those systems to shut down under those circumstances.

not only that, but I would think the TPMS would trigger the opposite effect and consider no signal as a blowout reducing the speed the car can go instead of switching off all the safety features....

Yes, exactly. Something is seriously wrong (under normal conditions) if you lose the TPMS.
