Maybe a tad bit of sarcasm, but I still think it's really trifling for someone to take that off someone else's vehicle.

I got the shifter recall work done on Azumi a couple weeks ago. The dealership got it done in about an hour. The first thing I noticed was that the shifter was a lot easier to move now, like they greased the heck out of it. The other thing I realized was that the lever seems to have a bit of "snap" to it when I go to shift gears; seems like they installed/tightened the springs in the shift lever. So now its super quick to slap the shifter when I'm trying to zip around in Azumi.

Just the kind of final update. The dealership finally called me and told me that the parts are all in. The cup holder and the two trim pieces that go on either side of the console forward of the shifter. And all the clips. I wasn't expecting the latter two trim pieces as they were only slightly damaged cosmetically. The service director was also very apologetic. Not sure if I'll trust this dealer again. However, the next closest one is 30 minutes further. Maybe before letting them service it again, I'll ask to meet the certified Suzuki tech and get a feel for his competency.

Almost 2 years since the last post in this thread! Today I received my SEVENTH REMINDER for the fuel vapor line fix. It's one I decided to pass on since I don't trust our dealer at all with repairs, unless it is absolutely necessary. My car is mostly garaged so I didn't really worry about this too much. Just wondering if the popular opinion is still to ignore this one?

I had it done a while ago. For me, it made sense as my Suzuki Service Dealer is competent, not too far away, and I wanted to get an alignment job done then too. I've also seen the offending species of spiders both in and on my Kizashi before.

Given the Kizashi is no longer made and parts are hard to come by, I think it makes sense to get any sort of preventative work done for a possible issue. While the spider issue may not be prevalent in your area, if an infestation was to occur, it would likely cause expensive repairs and put your car out of service for a while. I think a preventative solution like the recall service is the wiser way to go. Not only will it prevent the issue, it would also make Suzuki liable if it was to occur. If they knew you repeatedly ignored recall notices, you're going to be in a weaker position if the problem did ever take place down the road.

I plan to keep my Kizashi for quite a while and drive it into high mileage. Hence, it makes sense for me to take measures that will assure that the car will be as problem-free as possible. While I think the spider issue is not really a big risk for many people, the recall service looks to eliminate the risk of the problem. As the saying goes, prevention is the best medicine.

That spider fix was very simple (I was out there while it was being done)...and far less likely to have something ruined than the shifter fix, which, I have declined on numerous occasions (8 recall notices and counting plus reminders at the dealer every time the cars are there for inspections) for both the Kiz and the SX4 because of the high probability of damage and aggravation. It ain't broke.... we're not gorilla-style operators and religiously set the parking brakes in all our vehicles.

If you don't fix the spider thing, the resulting damage that will occur, should you have the issue, will not likely be covered by the warranty, and, will be much more complicated, and very expensive to fully repair for sure.

Ok, I will check into getting the spider thing fixed since they shouldn't damage anything. I don't want my shifter and interior messed with though! In fact, I don't think I remember getting a recall notice for anything other than the fuel vapor spider thing. Thanks for the input.

EDIT: I've got a 6 speed so I assumed the shifter recall would apply to me. Just searched and found it's for automatics.

Yup, that recall for the shifter is only for the automatics and does not apply to the manual trans models. We are better about using our parking brake anyway.
