Anything related to the Kizashi can go here, but please look at the other headings first. Your topic may fit better under something else.

Heavy rain today; tires are working fine fine fine. No apparent hydroplaning, even in excess of 100MPH.
Seem to have plenty of grip on on-ramps.......

Hmmm... I'm trying to figure out if WESHOOT only does half the things he says or only says half the things he does... Either way it makes for interesting reading.

Agreed. I was leaning towards the latter.

I'm curious to know what Weshoot2 will replace the Kizashi with. While the current one will serve him a bit longer, he puts on miles like a trucker. He also said that this one will be his last Kizashi due to parts drying up for this rare car.
He's talked about a VW Golf R which has the performance and AWD for his tastes, but it's unlikely going to be as durable and reliable as the Kizashi, especially under his punishment on off-pavement roads.

Given the crazy miles he drives and his fuel costs, if I were him, I'd probably get a diesel CUV with AWD. Yeah, quite a big change, but upcoming vehicles like the Chevy Equinox diesel or the Mazda CX-5 diesel look to offer over 40 MPG highway with automatics (not CVTs) with AWD. Also, CUVs tend to have at least an inch or two more ground clearance than a sedan.

Not going to handle....boring....and probably why his wife drives the CUV now. This guy loves to drive the car and drive it hard. Honestly, if one is not, then they are truly missing out on the real beauty of the beast. Not gonna lie, I drive mine hard anytime the opportunity presents itself, weather be damned. High-speed rainy driving doesn't disturb me at all with the K and a great set of tires. I also doubt mpg ratings, good or bad, is a show-stopper item for him either. (just a guess, thought, idea)

WESHOOT...feel free to chime in and give us yer thoughts man!

Yes, I too am curious, and further, would request that he continues to keep us abreast here of his daily shenanigans with whatever he choses as if it were the third Kizashi. Sorta like the lead scout regarding future replacement of the K. Should whatever he's hammering on next hold up to the.. dare I say abuse?, I'd be interested for sure.

Well, given the miles driven per year, the MPGs would pay a bigger factor for him than most people. Given his commute is mostly at highway speeds, looks like diesel would be the most efficient. No doubt a sedan is better than a CUV at handling, but with the Northeastern weather and unpaved road conditions, I think I'd rather have the extra ground clearance rather than worrying about a damaged underbody. The Kizashi is a tough sedan, but I don't think many others are as tough when pushed on unpaved roads.
Also, CUVs expand the availability of AWD models. The Kizashi was a rarity in that it offered AWD as a family sedan.

Only tell half, hide the other half. The untold half is highly illegal, utterly dangerous, and refreshingly fun.

Is automotive dementia a real thing?

Since I do literally travel at excessive speeds, stealth is a feature that has always appealed to me.
So, I've discovered the new 2017 4WD Golf Sportwagen.
It is a station wagon, which renders it invisible.
It has the Golf R 4WD system, and the dual-clutch 6-speed (ah, no more Jatco worries).
It also has an available ECU flash ($600) that bumps it to around 250HP with near 300lb-ft of torque. Aftermarket support is very strong, so up-rated brakes, engine mods, suspension bits, and wheels are abundant.
$25K vs the $40+ I'd been considering for a new Caddy, S3, or Golf R.
Haven't driven one yet, 'cause I just got those great new tires on the Kizashi.

Yesterday I shot a USPSA match till 2PM, then drove 128 miles --much on dirt-- just enjoying new-tire grip. Only almost wrecked one time.

My commutes are mostly at criminally high speeds.
Gas mileage is rhetorical, for me.

Sadly, I am not afraid to smash any parts of my Kizashi

Gotta go!
