Has anyone replaced their wiper blades yet? Which brand/model have you had good luck with?
Wiper blades are still smearing so it's time for replacements. Not bad considering the stock blades lasted over two years.

I'm gonna go with the Michelin Stealth blades from Costco. They're cheap and effective and I have Costco's liberal return policy if they don't work out
Happy to report that the Michelin Stealth blades at Costco work flawlessly with no streaks, skipping or noises. At $10 per blade, I'll happily replace them annually

Also, my gas mileage sucks balls. Last tank was 14.5L/100km or 16.3 mpg. All city driving with some AWD use in the rain

I may have to try those Stealth Blades next time I need a replacement.

Also, that trunk mod is awesome... and simple (read: I can do that)! I like it! Might just have to make a trip to the hardware store this weekend give it a go.

Edit: On the mileage, ouch. My last fill up was around 27mpg. Surprising since I had it idling in a parking lot for what seemed a long time and had hooned it a bit. lol

You think a PCM reset may help?

I'll try to get specs on the springs I used. The tension has to be just right otherwise the trunk will fling open and be difficult to close

Worth a try. I'll update if anything significant changes

I'm with you bootymac. Just filled up last night and was not happy to see 25 mpg. Winter plus a lot of short trips are conspiring against us.

LOL. That wouldn't be much fun. Thanks for the warning.

Do you think one longer spring would be able to do the job?

I updated the DIY with spring measurements and some more info.

One spring will work if the tension is right

My Weather Tech sunshade came in today (massive back order on them); ordered 12/31/14 got them 1/31/15. Anyways, it fits flawlessly-- covers the whole windshield with the only gap being the location where the mirror is. It has 2 sides, one for reflecting heat in the summer, and the other to absorb heat in the winter to reduce frost build up by releasing heat when the temps drops... supposedly. I'll have to give this a go soon.

I completed the bootymac special, trunk mod using the closest springs I could find at Home Depot that matched his measurements. Here are the springs used:

Larger spring. (13/16in x 4in x .120in @ 61.70lbs workload limit)

Smaller spring (5/8in x 2-1/2in x .072in @ 19.10lbs workload limit)

Installed springs. Opens the trunk about 3/4 full open (which is fine for me for I'd fear water getting in if it's raining hard and I am not at the trunk just yet).

It looks like you hooked the spring onto the black torsion bar. If you hook it to the back of the actual hinge, the springs won't move
