Finally got around to checking out the forum again.

Replaced the driver's side wiper with an Anco that was on clearance at Walmart. It does a decent job, but I need to get some triple-edge because those are the ultimate, hands-down.

Bought new ramps and oil change canisters for an oil change since all my stuff is in HSV and the car needs some fresh stuff in it. Researched oil change procedure and an oil filter wrench. Can you believe I've found the genuine Suzuki one for $5 online? I thought it would have been a lot more (my Porsche one was $50). The original part number from the service manual 09915-47341 has been superseded by 09915-40611 and can be found at all sorts of other places like lawnmower parts and suzuki marine parts places. Good to know this one is still a common and easily found part. 8-)

Updated my TPMS thread.

Changed the transfer case and rear differential fluids with Mobil 1 LS 75w90. Each fill took just under one quart. The factory fill fluids looked okay but the magnetic drain plugs picked up a bit of fine metallic goo. Interestingly, the rear diff fluid was a bit green while the transfer case was more grey.

I used an air compressor to pump the new fluid. It only took a few minutes to fill each part using this method:

The clear tube goes to the bottom of the bottle of new fluid. The air compressor pressurizes the container and pushes the fluid out of the clear tube and into the car. Science, bitch

How often are you guys changing these fluids? Suzuki Canada's "normal" maintenance schedule calls for the next change at 100,000km while the "severe" schedule calls for it every 25,000km.

Interesting fill method. I haven't had a chance to change ours yet and we're at 40k now.

Oil change when smooth. Found where the undertray must have gotten a crack in it it from one of the snow boulders turned ice boulders that littered the streets a few times this year. :( I sprayed down anything that was rusting with some pb blaster including the bolts for the undertray since they seemed quite rusty. Checked tires pressures all around using the vt30 and found that it does display if a tpms battery is okay or not. Sprayed some pb blaster onto the exposed axle threads to help cut down on rust. I really want to find some caps for those, but I'm afraid that might do more harm than good if water gets in there.

Yikes, 40k miles? The factory fill is supposed to be changed at 9k miles!

Also, PB Blaster isn't going to do anything for rust prevention as it's a penetrating fluid. You need to use something like Fluid Film

Filled up the Kiz today. 26.3 mpg. Also gas went up 20 cents since my last fill up. Here we go on the gas price roller coaster.

Installed El Grandes (night and day difference btw), OEM horn vid El Grande horn vid and replaced position bulbs with newer yellow leds while I had the bumper off.

Before
After

While the previous leds had casted more light around the reflector, I prefer the cleaner look of one single unit casting light. It also doesn't look as odd as the other t10 I had in there when the lights are off. Snap of the two, passenger side is new light, driver side old setup. Camparison!

We got the car at 29k, so I hope that the 9k was done. I plan to do the change myself as soon as I get time and back in hsv where all my tools are.

It's done a pretty decent job so far as a lot of stuff that was rusted at the end of last winter is back to non-rusted now. But I agree fluid film is the real stuff. I just have to find it locally.

Might be a placebo but the car seems quieter with the new fluid in. I'll see if there is a change in gas mileage overtime.

Liquid Wrench lubricating oil works just as well as Fluid Film and it costs a fraction of the price too. Here's the test: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/oil- ... rison.html

Left to right: untreated, Fluid Film, oil, WD40, Liquid Wrench

I use it on my other car's Koni Str.t dampers which are known to have a terrible finish that rusts quickly

Fresh fluids can have a placebo effect, but I think that my engine sounds smoother too.

Thank you for the tip on Liquid wrench! I know the parts store had that when I went this weekend. 8-)
