Smart Suzuki
Yesterday I was putting some stuff in the trunk after church. (I go every week, not just Easter!) Bags, clothes, wife's purse, etc. So I close the trunk and it doesn't latch. Thought I didn't close it hard enough so I do it again. It doesn't latch or rather, it unlocks right away. Hmmm, wonder if something is in the way. So I check and there isn't. Close it again, firmly with my hand on the deck lid the whole time. This time it latches and stays latched. Then I unlock the driver's door with the button. I go to lock it with the button and it won't. Just a long beeeeeeep! Try several times with the same result. I use the remote to lock it and it works fine. Try the button again. It unlocks, but won't lock. Maybe the trunk isn't latched? So I check and it is. Back to the door but the same beeeeep. I'm wondering what gremlins are running around in the car. Well, here's what happened: The second remote, which is usually in my desk drawer, was in my wife's purse which I was trying to lock in the trunk. It was trying not to let me even though after several tries it did. The funny thing is, the purse was right up against the back of the trunk literally a foot from the remote that was in my pocket yet the car new that it was in the trunk and therefore tried to keep me from locking it in there. It would let me lock the door with the lock button on the remote but not the button on the door handle. So if I didn't have the remote, I could still get to the trunk through the back seat. It let me lock it with the button on the remote because it was smart enough to know that I had one in my hand AND there was on in the trunk. Overall, it's pretty smart and tries real hard to keep you from doing something stupid, like locking your remote in the trunk.

That's pretty cool. Score for the Kizzy brain.
Just a few sentences in and I knew that a key fob was in the trunk. I've experimented with mine and the car automatically unlocks the doors when it detects the key fob inside the car and the door/trunk is being locked from outside without another key fob.
It's great because it makes locking your keys in the car nearly impossible. It's a benefit I always tell people when I explain the benefits of key fobs and the push start button system. Having once locked my keys inside my car at a very inopportune time in the past, I'm glad the Kizashi makes it a thing of history.
Another smart thing I've recently learned about the Kizashi:
If you put your car in Accessory mode and play your stereo, it will automatically turn off after about 2 hours or so. I recently discovered this when I was claying and polishing my car last weekend. I was playing music with the windows down. After quite a while (over an hour) the music suddenly stopped and the radio turned off. I had to turn it back on to get it playing again.
I believe it's a system to prevent the car from draining the battery entirely while left playing the stereo. I wasn't too concerned about this as I have a jump starter in my trunk.

Hah the exact same thing happened to me once - I left my key in my gym bag which I put in the trunk. After cursing the car for not closing the trunk, I ate some humble pie when I realized what I'd done. Thanks Kizashi!
That being said, I locked my motorcycle key in my underseat trunk this weekend, so it's obvious that I"m not a smart man.

Now this is weird. When I first got the car and didn't really have a good understanding of the keyless stuff, I accidentally left it in the accessory mode, locked it and walk away, ignoring the long "beeeeeep". (Note to self: never ignore the long beeeeeep unless you know why!) I came out about 3.5 hours later to an almost dead battery. I won't bore you with details unless you're interested in the previous post about it.KuroNekko wrote:

Funny thing, it was you, KuroNekko, who posted and explained what probably happened.

I think it's similar, but different from my scenario. You left your stereo off, but the car accidentally on so the fan was running if you had the HVAC system on. Also, with many newly purchased cars (especially used), the battery is weak because it has not been regularly charged by the alternator from frequent driving.LPSISRL wrote:Now this is weird. In my situation, I deliberately left only the stereo on for a few hours. I believe the auto-shut off system is only for the stereo as the stereo can consume quite a lot of power.

Is there a clever reason why they decided to make it so you cant roll the rear windows back up after you turn the car off?
Will the front ones roll up after the car is off? On most cars you can for about 10 minutes after the car is turned off.11zukizashi wrote:Is there a clever reason why they decided to make it so you cant roll the rear windows back up after you turn the car off?
