Time to have fun in the sun and see what my sport SLS can do. I used to buy only Michelin, but after my experience with Nokian I decided to research their summer line of tires along with some others. I've had my all weather Nokian WRG3 for several months now and they've performed amazingly, even though I can use them for the summer time, I want to make sure they last me long time. Here are my 2 choice for high performance summer tires:

Consumer Reports names top tire brands
Nokian — CR noted the tire maker’s expertise in winter tires, including the Hakkapeliitta R2 and the Hakkapeliitta R2 SUV. “The best-kept secret, though, might be the WR G3 and WR G3 SUV — winter tires that you can keep on your car or truck all year long. Nokian can make sporty tires, too; the zLine is an outstanding summer ultra-high performance tire. The downside is Nokian tires are not cheap,” CR said.

I'm running BFGoodrich g-Force Sport Comps on mine. Loud drone from the aggressive pattern at 30-60 mph, but they sure do bite hard in the corners.

Ha Ha, I watched the video for the Vredestein tire!
What the heck are they selling? It looked like some like of a soap opera love story.
And even after watching it I could not figure out what it was about.
The girl, the bed, the race track...all too confusing for me.
I did once have a set of Vredestein tires they did seem ok.

All their TV commercials and promotional vids are like that. Anyway the Nokian video gets me hyped to take my Kizashi on the track. I'm leaning towards the zline tires.Sluggo wrote:Ha Ha, I watched the video for the Vredestein tire!

How is the wet traction? How long have you had them?Speed_Racer wrote:I'm running BFGoodrich g-Force Sport Comps on mine. Loud drone from the aggressive pattern at 30-60 mph, but they sure do bite hard in the corners.

I put them on Nov of last year, and have only driven about 2500 miles on them. Not sure on the wet performance - I live in Utah and it doesn't rain much out here.yoshi2012 wrote: How is the wet traction? How long have you had them?
Whatever you do, don't drive these in the slush. Haha, that was a whiteknuckled 3 miles.

Looks like we're neighbors, I'm in Colorado so its pretty much the same here. Keep us up to date on your tires.Speed_Racer wrote:I put them on Nov of last year, and have only driven about 2500 miles on them. I ran Hankook Ventus tires on my Saab 9-2x aero.
They were good summer tires for an AWD car. It drove like a totally different car with those on. Way sharper than my other tires, but they did have stiff sidewalls so the ride was a little more firm.
If you go that route make sure you do not try to run them in the snow! Wet traction would not be great on a fwd as well.
I got mine off http://tirerack.com I noticed they have a newer version on closeout now.
... But they are still quite a bit more than I paid.

Hi Moto, thanks for the suggestion, are you talking about the Hankook VENTUS V12 EVO K110? I never tried hankook tires before. I want something that can handle the noble kizashi along with my aggressive driving style.Moto wrote:I ran Hankook Ventus tires on my Saab 9-2x aero.

I had Ventus V12 evos. Hankook makes some good tires for the price.
I don't think they make Ventus V12s that are the correct size for the OEM wheels, but the other Ventus tires had very similar ratings.
As long as you rotate them every other oil change you'll probably be in good shape, but that is the case with most tires. They are unidirectional.
If you go up to 235/50/18 you can get the ventus V12s. I think that size would probably work as well. You might run a little fast relative to the speedo if you went that route. Any you would be adding a little sidewall which might make it a little less sporty.
