***WARNING AIRBAG GLITCH***
I purchased a Kizashi 2010 SLS...loaded, beautiful car...Had it six weeks. Had a very minor accident; I became distracted and my foot came off the brake and I struck a curb/wall at approximatey 5-10 mph..EVERY airbag in the car exploded, with the exception of the passenger side...The front, side curtains, back seat bolsters, etc. It was a very traumatizing experience. We even had the police come to take a report because we couldnt' believe it. Neither did the police. They said they've never seen that happen...Damage to the car consisted of a scratched front bumper/cover. Not ONE dent in the body. Long story short, insurance TOTALLED the car! Cost to repair was $22k!!! Each airbag was over $2k to repair, plus the entire interior was ruined; seats needed to be replaced because they were ripped open. We were devastated. Even more devastating was the reaction from Suzuki. We called three times. They took an "incident" report. Said that it was a matter for our insurance company, etc. I could not believe they were not interested since it is a new model and possibly warrants a recall. After a third call, we gave up. Fortunately, we recd a great settlement from insurance..We would never buy a Suzuki product again because of the their response (or lack of one). We are now the owners of a beautiful, FAST, 2010 red Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T...It has everything the Kizashi had and More! Most importantly, a company that cares about their customers.

I'm sorry that you had such a bad experience. That does indeed sound traumatizing. I know that other members have had accidents where this hasn't happened, but I would certainly hope that Suzuki does more to investigate this issue. Good luck with the new car and thanks for the heads up.

Very sorry to hear about this.
I was rear-ended exactly 3 weeks from today and nothing went off. My passenger and I were buckled in, impacted by the force of two BMWs, and the car held up extremely well. The body shop and police were surprised in this scenario as well.
Thankfully, we didn't move much because the seatbelts locked up to hold us in and I always make sure every passenger has the headrest adjusted to the proper height.
This past Friday I picked up a brand new Kizashi (same exact color and trim) since Geico believed they could sell my old car @ a high salvage price rather than pay for repair costs since it is so new.
Simply wanted to add my 2 cents. You're situation could have been a very strange fluke in the system, and it should be investigated simply for the assurance of the rest of us owners and future buyers.
Do you have photos to share?

how exactly is this "not a suzuki thing".....did you notice the OP was referring to the SUZUKI kizashi...I own one too, but I don't let the "pride" factor to take over my judgment.
I hope Suzuki investigates this for you, please keep us posted.

I have seen posts about similar things on sx4 club. Suzuki does seem to have a problem with their airbag sensors. In the case of the sx4 they sometimes wouldn't go off if you hit something solid like a dear standing in the road.(personally I think that is probably a good thing.) In the SX4's case it has to do with poor placement within the bumper. It is possible that the Kizashi has the sensors in a strange spot.
So.... who has had their bumper off to change the lights and knows where they are? I think we have had two or three people on the forum do it. Did any of you guys see where the sensors are?

Like cheap plastic and upholstery? It sounds like you had a freak incident, but that doesn't make the Hyundai compare to the Kiz. I'm sorry, but every Hyundai I have ever had the displeasure to ride in was a cheap piece of junk inside and out.rabby wrote:I purchased a Kizashi 2010 SLS...loaded, beautiful car...Had it six weeks. The Kiz got 5-star crash ratings in every area except roll-over, which it got 4-stars. One thing that makes me suspicious of this post is the fact that you said your foot slipped off your break. The initial acceleration on the CVT on the Kiz is so slow that it's very hard to believe that you would have ran into anything from your foot simply slipping off the break. I'm not saying it isn't possible, but your story sounds a little more like a tale a teenager would tell if they were doing something stupid and jacked-up the family car. You know, like blame it all on the car to take focus off the operator type of deal.
At any rate, I'm glad nobody was hurt and I wish you luck with your Hyundai.
Kizashi SLS CVT Azure Gray Metallic
It does seem odd that they managed to pick up any speed at all. Maybe there was a slight hill or something. I wouldn't knock Hyundai too much right now. From what I have been reading they are coming along quickly, but the Kizashi is still winning on most fronts.
What i was trying to say was he had a freak accident unpleasant yes no dispute about that but then he gonna say he will never buy suzuki again ok fine but i dont believe its a suzuki thing at all people here reported accidents didnt have the same problem he did i have hit curbs nothing happened so will i discredit suzuki i dont think so .. Not to that magnitude freakish things happen to all car manufacturers even hyundai so what is the point of discrediting suzuki its not about pride its putting things in perspective and being realistic shit happens no car is perfect Maybe its something to note but should they stop making cars now should we all go buy hyundai is that your judgement. Come on is this something widespread and whos to say hes telling the truth sounds like hes trying to bash suzuki over hyundai Also it sounds like more to the story... I sure aint bashing suzuki because of this poster i feel sorry about the situation suzuki seems good in the customer relations dept something is missing hereSenegal wrote:how exactly is this "not a suzuki thing".....did you notice the OP was referring to the SUZUKI kizashi...I own one too, but I don't let the "pride" factor to take over my judgment.
