I have heard a few complaints about the Dunlop Sport 7000 tires that come on the Kizashi from the factory: a few people have complained about leaks, and they seem to wear out at about 30K.
My car has a small shimmy at the steering wheel rim at highway speeds, which the dealer swears is not there. I am sure that it is either a tire imbalance or an out-of-round condition.
Has anyone gone so far as to replace the OEM tires on their cars, and what have tires have you used?

Never had shimmy issues or anything but I put GY EAGLE GT's on for the winter. I did have traction issues with the Dunlops. So far I,m happy with these and will put the Dunlops back for the summer to get my money out of them. Our SX4 also has the EAGLE GT's. I dont how'ever expect to get 30,000 out of either of them.
The dealer is in business to do repairs, if they can convince or justify repairs to the car manufacturer they will then be reimbursed for said repairs. If they can not convince the car company a car needs repairs they get nothing. Your dealer is not out to get you.tigerbangs54 wrote:I have heard a few complaints about the Dunlop Sport 7000 tires that come on the Kizashi from the factory: a few people have complained about leaks, and they seem to wear out at about 30K.

I do not expect tires on any new car last much beyond 30K, and when I buy new tires I do not pay extra for tires that'll last 50-60K because the car will be long gone by the time I get a return on my dollar. If you think the dealer is missing something then you should take your car/tires to the tire store that sells the brand and have them look them over.

No. I was planning on getting winter tires for mine, but the wife's minivan also needed winter tires, and the budget allowed for only one set... guess who won
I must admit that the Dunlops SP7000 have worked much better than expected in the snow. In the dry I was expecting them to behave well, and they didn't disappoint. So far quite pleased with the OEM tires.
By the way, mine are "V" speed rated. It seems the SP 7000s come in "H" and "V" speed ratings. While in theory they should behave exactly the same, there have been examples of tires (BF Goodrich traction T/A comes to mind) where one speed rating gets rave reviews, while the other is slammed. The SP7000 reviews seem to be bunched together

any suggestion on what tires to get besides the dunlop tires? budget wise but at the same time quality.. "bang for the bucks"
Tnx.
I had mine for just a year. Got into a pot hole so I need a new one and i think other tires are wearing... I got 15000+ plus on it.

I like the Yokohama ENVigor and Continental ExtremeContact DWS. I'd get the DWS if you ever have to drive on snow.

I agree on the Continentals. They are a good balance of performance and comfort that would suit the Kizashi. Nicely priced too.Triggerhappy wrote:http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSearc ... 8&x=67&y=2

I would stay away for the Conti DWS. I have them, and they are worse in the snow than the OEM Dunlops. I was surprised by that, given all the high marks in Tire Reviews. They handle better in the dry, and are good in the rain, and will last longer.
I think the reason may be that their construction is 1/2 M&S and 1/2 not (two tread designs on these). I got through a 2nd winter with them, and will be doing something else next winter - even if they have tread life left.
Acid test was on my steep driveway in snow. With former car and with the OEM tires on the Kisashi, I could come to a complete stop on snow going down, and restart from stop in it going up. No way with these tires. Major disappointment.

I don't remember which tires came on my SX4 but they too only lasted 30k. The dunlops on my kizashi are ok, I would be happier with a little more snow traction, but they do ok all the same.

gaww,
Thanks for the heads up regarding the Conti DWS tires--i was thinking about picking them for my next set but will avoid them now. What tires are you thinking about going with next?
