Rewired back-up camera and DVD viewing to function in Drive
My 2011 GTS came with a kenwood navigation system and back-up camera. The kenwood has an option to view the camera by pressing a R-cam button on its face but the camera is only wired to turn on when in reverse. I checked the wiring in the trunk and the camera turns on with a 6v signal with the reverse lights. Behind the radio I found a module that had 2 harnesses and a video plug. I removed the red wire that was T-tapped to the reverse light wire in the radio harness and connected it to the radios red 12v acc wire. This allows the camera to remain on as long as the vehicle is on and the module still only sends a 6v signal to the camera. Just make sure you leave the radio's reverse wire connected so it will automatically switch to the cameras input when you put the vehicle in reverse. Its kind of a pointless mod but its fun to see whats going on behind you when cruising on the highway. There is also a green parking brake wire that I just connected to the radios ground to allow DVD viewing while driving.

Nothing like a few more distractions competing for your attention, taking your eyes off the road in front of you while you're driving. And here I'm wondering in amazement why it is so many people are driving across the double yellow in my lane coming the opposite direction these days.....now I know! I drive w/ one hand on the horn alot anymore.

Any chance at getting a picture or diagram of the wiring changes? I'm not very electrically inclined but i'd like to be able to use the GPS while i'm driving, or at least have my passenger be able to. I see a few green wires and i'm not sure if I should just yank it out of the harness and ground it or what. Thanks for any advice, I can take pictures of my setup later if the 2012 is any different.
