I have a 2010 Kizashi SE and noticed that Suzuki sells a fog light kit as an accessory on their website. I'm contemplating whether I should install it myself or pay the dealer to do it. Has anyone personally installed their fog lights? If so, how challenging was it?

I've had a quick look into adding fog lights and I assume that most of the wiring loom is already in the vehicle. It's probably just a matter of plugging in and installing the dash switch in place of the blank, then popping out the fog light blanks (most likely from underneath), fitting the fog lights and plugging them in to the wiring loom. You might need to add a relay and fuse into the engine fuse box.

(That's all I had to do to add them to a Mazda 6 I owned.)

If you find out any further info I'd be interested in knowing too.

FYI, I just did a custom LED install where the fog lights would go. There is no specific wiring in place for the fog lamps. There is the harness that goes to the side marker lamps, and from what I could see there is additional wiring in that harness that must be for the fog lamps. If the fog lamp kit doesn't come with a specific harness to connect to the existing connectors then you would have to purchase that separately. Besides that you would still have to have the relay and switch put in. I have not looked for a wiring harness/connector for the switch so can't be sure that is there, but I would expect it to be.

Thanks for the info. Much the same as the Mazda - I had to extend the loom and slpit it into 2 for each fog light.

I'm actually debating whether to do DRL's in the fog light position (Oz spec Kizashi's don't get them) because they'd be a lot more use than fog lights. But I want to do it properly (legally as they're big on roadworthy vehicles here) so they'd have to be approved lights like the Philips or Hella LED DRL.

Any tips on removing the fog light "blanks" from the bumper bar? It is a matter of removing the engine bay under tray and releasing them from underneath/ behind the bumper?

You will have to remove the bumper. It's actually very easy. A dozen or so screws and a couple of snap in's on the sides. Once off you have to remove a couple of screws holding the fog light grilles in.

It is a good idea to pull the negative terminal on the battery while you do this since you will be close to some of the sensors for the air bag system.

Yes, always a good idea when doing any work.

PS: However, I'd be most surprised if it didn't work off a centrally located G Sensor (ie. inside the vehicle bolted to the floor tunnel). The sensors behind the bumper are old school to my knowledge?

I know they were in the front of the SX4... and also know that there have been two occasions on this forum where the car was in a minor front end collision that caused all of the air bags to deploy. I believe both cars were totaled.

The sensor behind the bumper is old school, but i'm not sure there isn't one.

Other members have had their bumpers off. We used to have a good write up on how to do it, but the author deleted the post for some reason. (along with all of his other posts)

They're in the front end of the 2004 XL-7 we've got. But it is 8yo and a 4WD, so the front bumper sensors might have been a more reliable option back then with hard offroad use? A 2005 Peugeot I owned employed the centrally located G sensor.

There could also be a difference in airbag operation in the USA vs other countries. I know I've read before that US vehicles employ faster inflating airbags due to a lot of people there supposedly not wearing seat belts? That could also explain the deployment in low speed accidents (I assume it was in the USA?)
