I've been shopping for them online since my state doesn't have many dealers, and the dealers we have only have a few cars in stock. So far for a manual GTS I've seen one for $21,000, and every other place I've seen is $24,000-$25,000, so yes, if you can talk your dealer to $21,000 that would probably be pretty good.

There are a variety of websites showing the invoice value. It appears Suzuki has some pretty serious holdbacks, so the dealer will make money even selling below invoice. In other words, for these cars, starting negotiations at invoice is a fair point to start.

IMHO, the CVT gets a bad rap JUST because it is different. You have to understand that it's a whole different concept of how to run a car. The transmission chooses a ratio that optimizes the engine performance, usually biased for fuel economy, but when accelerating, it sets the engine at it's power peak and then varies the transmission ratio to make the speed. I have to admit it's a little weird to have the engine sit at 5500 RPM constantly while accelerating and going 0- however fast with no RPM change or shifts.
As for AWD, I don't have any experience with it. I would think with FWD and traction control, you'd have to love where weather is pretty bad to justify carrying around all the extra weight and the higher purchase price.

thx, I don't think I need AWD with higher price since we are not getting a lot of snow during winter. I am trying to choose between SE automatic ( CVT) or GTS 6 SPD.

These are personal preference questions. I've got a 2010 SLS CVT FWD and am happy with it as a commuter car in a fairly heavy New Jersey commute. I don't want the shifting responsibility of MT and I do like the smoothness. It's a bit slower a little off the line than it could be, but if it were faster frankly I'd get past the rare aggressive car next to me only to get in line behind another car. 9 times out of 10 the acceleration is perfectly sufficient to get me past the other commuters anyway, should I so desire.
My suggestion is to test drive each candidate a few times and see if you are comfortable. By no means should any typical driver simply reject the CVT based on reading posts or reviews. You know whether you like a lot of acceleration, all the time, or not.

If you don't need the AWD, 6 spd MT GTS would be a blast to drive IMHO. I'm kind of relieved they didn't offer the MT w/ the AWD else I'd have been torn w/ my decision as to which way to go even though my wife is no longer able to drive a stick. (I'm a MT guy and really don't care for any kind of auto). AWD was a must for us.
