What gear is the one to one

Hey guys!


Quick question for anything know the gear ratios in the kizzie's 6-spd in the sls fwd.
I have dynoed it. I had wondered if I was in the right gear. I was in 4th starting at 45 mph and 2500 rpm.
It dynoed @206 fwhp and 178 ft - ib torque. Small custom exhaust and small ignition upgrade only.

1st gear ratio - 3.615
2nd gear ratio - 2.047
3rd gear ratio - 1.379
4th gear ratio - 1.029
5th gear ratio - 0.837
6th gear ratio - 0.707
Reverse gear ratio - 3.481
Final drive ratio - 4.117

206whp and 178wtq is impressive. Can you share more details about your mods?

It shouldn't make a lot of difference on the dyno which gear is used. I experimented quite a few years ago (a friend had access to a dyno for free) and we found it made next to no difference. That was on a PC based Dyno Dynamics dyno.

206hp at the wheels sounds a bit strange? That's ~153kW at the wheels, when the engine is rated at 132kW at the crank. I would have expected around 110kW? Your "custom exhaust" doesn't include a turbo does it?

No turbo ran it in 4th ignition upgrade i.e upgraded coil packs and spark plugs and no restriction exhaust

Which coilpacks are you using?

Pertronix 40,000 volt high performance coil

Plus running one plug hotter instead of a heat range of 11 I'm running 12 the only down side is it will if not gapped righ after a few months it will start misfiring and if un treated the computer will cut off cylinders . Mine did it in cylinder one and the fix was just to replays the plugs and re gap them. It's really finicky the gap was off by .01 and after four months it miss fired and I thought it was full issue then it cut a cylinder and luck I was next to the auto store and caught the code and that's when I did the coils and changed the plug

Something's not right there. With 185 HP at the shaft, the only way you'll get an increase at the wheels is with a turbo or SC. There just too much drive train loss. You're just not going to gain that much with coil packs and exhaust. Maybe with an NO2 but I don't even know if there's one available.

Agreed, 150 hp at the wheels, tops.

The gear its in MULTIPLIES the torque of the motor.. horsepower shouldn't matter too much but if you are paying attention to your torques you want to use a 1:1
