Just Completed Performance Upgrades
I have turned 43,000 trouble free miles on my Kizashi S which contains the above mentioned modifications. The performance appears to have remained the same. I completed a tire tread depth on the rear units and find that I have used 6/32nd " of rubber. Consequently exceeding 60,000 miles on these will not present any problems. The fronts were changed in favor of mud/snow tires in November of 2010 and permitted to remain and will be replaced with new ones this November. The brakes and all other wearables are without problems. I use normal HD oil and change it /filter every 10,000 miles. The need for expensive oils I have found with this engine and previous GM products is not necessary.

i would NEVER go 10,000 miles between oil changes, no way I would risk ruining an engine like that !
Mods: Cat Back, Under Drive Pulley, Strut Tower brace, K&N Filter, Sony Xplode 6 1/2 4 way speakers in rear, blacked out S in front grill, American Racing Alloys.
I would suggest you consider better oil. In 2010, new car manufactures were required to put a new standard (ILSAC GF-4) in all cars. Oil meeting this standard all but eliminates normal wear in engines- if it is not degraded.billj wrote:I have turned 43,000 trouble free miles on my Kizashi S which contains the above mentioned modifications. Not all oil sold at retail meets this standard, especially if it has been on the shelf for a while. As for its price - think about how much money you spend on gas over a 3-6 month periond - saving a few dollars on oil just doesn't add up.
As for filter, also stick with the best. "Savings" here does not really make sense either.
As for specific intervals, I am not going to recommend specific ones, but I have gone on the high end for years since switching to synthetic oils, and I replace the filter in between oil changes. Last vehicle had only 130,000 miles on it (the CVT was making me nervous), but the engine still ran like new.
All that work is what I am set to do. I am hopefully purchasing a silver platitum edition and will do a full body kit as well. Does the exhaust sound really good. I was going to try a invidia and try to fit it inderneath the car. I am looking for a good rumble similar to a Subaru boxer rumble. Can you post a HD video of your exhaust so we can hear it and see it?
