is anybody actually using this oil for 15k miles? how many miles are you going between oil changes

I'm using synthetic, but for the book recommended 7500 miles.
If you want to go 15k, you really need to do a used engine oil analysis.
That said, unless you drive ALOT of miles, i don't see why you would push it like this. It's, what, $50 -$100 a year? For potentially a new engine (which they will almost certainly deny warranty coverage on)

I just got my oil changed (synthetic)
at local Suzuki dealer $65.00 and they still put that stupid
3000 mile time to change sticker..grrr I go about 5000-6000 miles
between changes. I would not dare go to much further myself
and what about the oil filter I know nothing about the

$65 for a syn oil change is actually a very good price here in NJ. After I was charged $85 or so by a Jiffy Lube (Morris Plains NJ) I started stopping at the Wal-Mart and picking up the syn before going to the JL. But most recently, they're charging $9 for the filter. They did switch to the five year interval on the reminder about a year ago.

I hope you mean 5000 mile interval.chazyouwin wrote:They did switch to the five year interval on the reminder about a year ago.
IME, they will write whatever interval you like on the sticker if you tell them.

Okay, I'm getting really old. Sometimes I miss a decade or two on a written date, but transforming a 5000 mile interval into a 5-year one means I've achieved a new milestone of impending incapacity.

Right there with ya bro.....

I called Mobil 1 to ask some questions when my first change was due. I wanted to use the extended 15K stuff. I had used it on my last car for the last 5 years with no issues upto 130K miles when I traded it in for the kizzy. Well Mobile 1 told me it was not recommended on any car under warranty. So I did have a regular 5W-30 synthetic change at Mobil 1 done but it was almost $90 including a tire rotation. They said that would last 10K, but I'm still sticking to the 7500. Knowing it's good for 10K is comforting. So I did the same service my self this last time. All for $40 and about 2 hours of time. And I didn't leave the engine cover loose as I drove away LOL.

well i just put mobil 1 in mine at 4500 miles myself, swore i would never change my own oil again. !!!!!!!!!! its not that bad changing the oil in the kizashi but
i just hate getting on the ground since i dont own a car lift. I guess i got the normal mobil 1 , didnt know there was a extended version. mobil 1 was 24.99 plus 4.00 oil filter. i plan on running the oil to 3000, changing the filter, then putting another 3000 miles on it before i change the oil. my car runs great,
200 hp, and i plan on staying on top of it. i love my car !!!

Does anyone have any info on using BG lubricants for their car?... the warranty claims are impressive, and a zip code search yielded a lot of local shops near me.
