I tried to embed a youtube video in a post but the embed function didn't work like in the past. I tried different things but they all just ended up as a link to youtube instead of an embedded video.

Yeah... I noticed that as well. It may take a bit to get figured out. The solution wasn't obvious as to why it didn't work.
