I agree that retrofits are too much work and that halogen projectors will get the job done without offending anyone. I'm hoping the cut off and pattern is distinct enough to easily aim the lights
Edit: found a picture of the cut off with halogen projectors. The color temperature is 10000K for reference

Did you find that the bulbs were rotated when you installed them? This supposedly causes issues with shadows from the improper orientation of the bulb's return wire.~tc~ wrote:I went with the XB35 4300K. The harness is VERY nice.
I read in another thread that the base of the bulbs had to be modified:

Thanks. I'm going to get this set up too since my old HID kit is failing. I like the output in your pics. I may get 5000k, but your 4300K bulbs look like a high intensity white (the color output I'm going for).

4300K is the way to go IMO. Brightest output and also the most factory looking. For 4300K, the XB35 bulbs do not seem to offer any improvements over the standard 3Five bulbs. Both have the same lifetime, luminosity and warranty length.
XB35 (4300K):
Lifetime (Hours): 2500
Rated Lifetime: 2500 hours (5-8 years)
Rated wattage: 35W and 55w

3Five (4300K):
Lifetime (Hours): 2500
Wattage: 35

It's more about the quality of the construction, little things like the salt mixture, the alignment, etc that make sure you get optimal performance. For $20, I do t know why you wouldn't go for the upgrade.
