Trunk release

Hi,
my car trunk does not open when using the key or the button inside the cabin. The only way to open it is to reach the handle from inside the trunk.

Is anyone here had the same problem and where should i look first?

Verify the trunk lid lock switch is not on in the glove box.

I did not knew about this lock. My son just confessed it was him who had played in the glove box!

Thank you for this! I missed the switch and found the info AFTER I had ordered a replacement latch. FYI the same trunk latch is used by Toyota for the Yaris of the same year. It’s available on Amazon for $30 cdn instead of $150 usd and out of stock or back ordered oem.

Interesting... The Kizashi also uses the same fog light as the Yaris of the same model years. I wonder what other minor parts they share.

Fog lights are the same as Camry too.
