Although it was stated that the car is going to have “class-leading” power they will inevitably need to turbocharge the engine. Ford’s new 2-liter EcoBoost engines are going to be producing around 230hp and will be used in many of their new cars. In 2010 Ford Fusion will have an optional Eco boost engine option and this will likely be a direct competitor to the Kisashi (at least in the eyes of most people). Suzuki defiantly needs to step up if they plan on running in the larger car class.
Making the claim that is shares many European traits should immediately slot it to receive a turbocharged engine. It will be very interesting to see what power plant changes are made after the first year.

The car will produce 185HP in stock form. If you think about how 7 PSI turned out 80% HP increase at the wheels on my SX4, then 7 PSI on the Kizashi would put it at 250-255 HP at the wheels with FWD. That would make a good fast car and with the Kizashis handling it would be a great car to own.
^^^That sounds pretty good. I just thought about adding different camshafts, better spark plugs/wires, a cold-air intake system and upgrading the exhaust system. I don't think it could generate that much power, but I want my Kizashi to be an n/a car.

may be we can share turbo engine with GM?
IMO, develope own turbo engine are too much investment

Unfortunately I have a feeling it will have to be aftermarket only. It looks like ford is the only automaker in the US that is making a push to put turbos in their stock cars.
Also... I think all cooperation between Suzuki and GM is done for.

I think Suzuki is definitely going Turbo next with the Kizashi. Will it be a 4cyl High Output Turbo or a Turbo Diesel? From what I have read, Suzuki is working with VW - so a Turbo Diesel might be in the works?
Either way, I think I would love this car more with a turbo!

As far as General Motors, there won't be much cooperation there for a long time with anyone. They (GM) do offer a turbo 1.6L in their Chevy Cruze. Hyundai is also offering a turbo Sonata that boasts 270 hp. That would be the competition I would worry about, the others seem to think that replacing displacement with turbos is the better way to battle fuel milage ratios. If Suzuki could offer a similar turbo package or option as RPM designed, I don't think many competitors would be able to compare without doing some major suspension and package overhauls.

Just for those who dont know. Suzuki and VW are done. Dead. They are in arbitration right now to dissolve the relationship.
So we wont see anything from VW anytime soon.
We probably will see the return of GM and Suzuki, thats my opinion. Now that GM is pretty much out of bankruptcy, the stocks that VW holds, could be offered to GM.
Although, FIAT and SUZUKI are having a banner time with the SX4 and now the SX4 is using a FIAT diesel engine.
I hope that for the sake of Suzuki, that they compliment the Kizashi bold design, with a turbo or engine that compliments this. Right now, its pretty good, but pretty slow overall for the car that it is.

I happen to visit a local suzuki dealer for some service info. One of the sales guys stuck up a conversation with me about the kizzy. He then led into the fact that he had been in sales meetings regarding the turbo version. According to him, suzuki has the model already designed, but they will not release it until they are confident in their sales forcast. I know many people on the forums would love one, but unless it makes financial sense to a company like suzuki they will not do it. Bottom line, it wont be for a few years if they decide to release it.
