Hallo,
do you ever seen a crack in the engine block of the 2,4 liter motor??
It is not the engine of my car, i ask in name of a friend, who has the same engine in his New Grand Vitara.
I never heart about this problem in Germany or Europe.
Thanks for your answers.
Greetings

That is the first time I have ever heard of a cracked engine block with this car.

It was cracked without performance enhancements?

he only has seen a little bit of water under the car.
The mechanic meens, thats a very often problem by 2,4 liter SUZUKI motor.
No one in Germany ever heart this, i cant believe , that this is a real problem of the engine.
His engine has 50 000 Km , is 5 years old.
Many thanks for your answers, and sorry for my Englisch

Does the workshop know what they're talking about/ looking at? If I was the owner, I'd be a bit dubious until I saw the block cracked for myself.

That engine has been around for a while now, so it shouldn't be too hard to find other cases (if it is a common problem.)

There's no evidence of that type of problem on this forum and a quick google search didn't come up with any further evidence.

there are a few examples on this forum of members that run their cars pretty hard and (like myself) are a bit lacking in the service, and I have yet to hear of this problem. Same with the SX4 guys as I believe the 2.0 and the 2.4 are the same blocks, just different heads.

Suzuki Esteem got the "J" engine back in late 1998, that was basically the same block. Never heard of any cracking. Early Aerios (J20) spun rod bearings and threw the rod through the side of the block from time to time.

Hi Masch, I put a post on that Suzuki forum that I linked to earlier. If there are any common problems they will surface from that forum. (I hope you don't mind I've cut and pasted your posts?)
