Kenwood DNX6020EX-iPhone and firmware updates

I am growing increasingly frustrated that my iPhone 4S is not able to sync with my Kenwood unit that came with my 2012 Kizashi. Has anyone had success getting it to work? Also, I have read that there is a firmware version of 2.4.0 but I am running 2.2. The updates on kenwoods site are no help.

Mine works fine.

When I plug it into the iPhone/pod cable that came with the system. It doesn't recognize there is a phone or device at all. According to Kenwood it is "not compatible". Yet I have read on the internet people are able to with the DNX6020EX

I haven't tried it with my iPhone.

It's kind of hit-or-miss with my iPad.

I'm a bit late to the party, but my wife has a 4s and it works fine.

Now, my question is what do we do now that she *had* to get a 5s? Is there a cable adapter that will get everything working again?
