$8800 dollar crunch

My poor Kiz got crunched on Tuesday night. I was behind another car at a right on red turn lane. Though the other car had merged into traffic when I saw them move forward, looked to check traffic and accellerated and as i turned my head back they hadn't moved forward and CRASH. They where in a Ford Escape so it was more me going under their bumper. As you can see I got the worst of it. The insurance company called with the estimate...

Needs a new hood and assembly, a new grill assembly, new front bumper, two new headlights, frame realignment, passenger side front fender, oil dipstick, washer fluid holder, radiator and fan, air conditioning hose and recharge, the front under carriage panel, some paint touchups on the driver side fender and passenger side door. Comes to about 8800 dollars in repairs :shock: and should take about 2-3 weeks due to parts having to be ordered from the west coast.

Right now I am driving a Chevy Cruise, its a nice car, but I miss my Kazashi :-(

Ouch, that's gotta hurt. But why do you need 2 headlights?? only one is broken no??

I don't know, there must be cracks where I couldn't see. They said that the drivers side was tweaked a little due to the frame damage

Ouch that sucks!

I'd love to hear your thoughts on the Cruze, as it's on my list along with the Kizashi. Which drive train?

At least the airbag didn't pop out. The cruze is kinda slow compare to kizashi, am I correct? I think the base model only have like 140 hp.

It is probably a little slower. The cruze and kizashi were actually supposed to share the kizashi platform before GM sold their share of suzuki back in 2009.

Blackbelt - Thanks for that. I needed the laugh.

The insurance company posted the detailed estimate for the car and it comes to just over 9000. I was very shocked at how much the headlights are. I knew they where expensive, but they list them for the whole assembly at $520 each side. :shock: About 1/3rd of that though comes from labor

As for those of you asking about the Cruze. I do like some of the styling of the car. Though it is definitely a smaller vehicle. There is less interior room and now that I have been driving it the seats seem smaller and less comfortable then the Kizashi. It is also a little slower. Does not have that extra power when accelerating I have noticed, though in my case that is a good thing :oops:

Right now the estimates for having the car back is looking like the end of the month! I'll be sure to post the after shots of my baby all fixed up.
