Hi guys,
In my continuing project of the new aftermarket navi/gps backup camera etc. I noticed today that my fog lights and traction control button aren't working. The fog lights won't turn on and when I press the traction control button to turn it off nothing lights on the dash. I checked the fog light fuse and it is not blown though I haven't had time to check the traction fuse yet. Any ideas on what happened?
thanks,
Joe
Fog lights and traction control out?
Couple (simple things.)-Not trying to insult your intelligence. I've brain farted on these things before I realized this. On the fog lights, if your car has the auto light feature , AND your switch is on "auto" AND it is during the day. the fog lights will not come on. Put the switch on manually, on LOW BEAM (fog lights turn off on high beam) and see if they work then. They also will not work when just your parking lights on. You can leave the switch on auto and at night the fog lights will work. (low beam only)
For the traction control hold it down for 4-5 seconds or until the light on dash goes on. Do it when you are stopped. Takes longer than a quick push.
If you already knew this/tried this then your chasing relays, fuses etcetera, but from what I understand, some electronics have to be programmed or processed through the control module. I would take it in to dealer if under warranty.
Not sure if when you installed new electronics if something could have tripped or needs to be reprogrammed. Not as easy as the old days when a fuse may have done it.
If you cant get it done under warranty , you may want to bend the ear of an installer who may run across these issues.

Thanks so much! They were simple things and I certainly wouldn't have taken offense anyway but you were exactly right on both problems. I haven't had the car that long and didn't know about the restrictions with the auto lights/day time etc. and you were 100% correct. You were also spot on with the traction control. I was just pushing it in for a second or so and not holding it.
I only wish I would have had the patience to wait for your reply before I pulled and checked EVERY SINGLE FUSE IN THE CAR!

Thanks again,
Joe
