Hi David - thanks for the pics. Looks like you have a lot better reverse camera than mine! although the back of the image looks very similar - it just must be where they actually install the camera. Does your picture end up getting "rain" on your image? not sure if its the camera or the location??? very frustrating to look at in the wet.
Still have not been able to send the pic through - have emailed the administrator to allow the pic - how the hell did you manage to get two pics up? please talk me through that process - as I still cant (and neither can the b.f) Also - how does the "quote" thing work? haven't been able to do that either - yep you guessed it - very new to this stuff -sorry.....
My camera is mounted in the "factory" position - I've used the plastic blanking plate to mount the camera. Yes, rain does affect it but I don't think any rear mounted camera would be immune to that. (You get all the spray and road grime sucked in behind the vehicle as it drives along.)
For the pictures I've uploaded them elsewhere on the internet (I'm using the free webspace from my internet provider). Then it's a matter of putting some code into the reply I post that includes the internet address of the photo eg:
(I've disabled the code function of this post so you can see the coding to post the picture- otherwise the picture would have appeared again!)
For quoting, hit the quote button and then edit out any part you don't want quoted- leaving the starting
and ending
in place. Then when you post the text anything within the
and
will appear as a quote.
Yey it worked!! ok so that's the view.
I'm a little cranky today - as the salesman that sold me the car said he would get back to me with the speaker solution today.... I cant believe its that hard to organize. I rang Auto barn - and asked them for a price to supply and fit the rockford system -they said they don't stock the one that suzuki sell - but could put a slightly better one in for $1837. So tomorrow I start doing legal paper work - first stage - send a registered letter to them -then to consumer affairs - who I have already spoken to about this matter and who have said that in a nut shell "they will be made to fit the speakers" - it will just take a little longer....so not happy today that I have to start down this road with a new car, you like to feel like buying a car is a fantastic experience -not a stressful one
Thanks for the pic. It appears the factory camera possibly doesn't display as wide an angle as mine? I think mine is supposed to be 170 degrees? The down side is I get the distortion in the picture.
Good on you for following through with the audio system. Make sure you push for the amplifier as well as the speakers- because if you don't have the power to drive the speakers properly it won't sound much better. Possibly worse- as the maximum volume level quite likely will be lower without the amp. Your current head unit would not have anything close to the power of the Rockford Fosgate amplifier which is rated at 425 Watts RMS total (150 Watts RMS for the subwoofer.) At an (educated) guess, your current factory head unit would have a maximum of around 40 Watts RMS.
Thanks for your advice. Will take it on board - I think my boyfriend has lost the plot with it all and said he will call them tomorrow. In the mean time Im drafting a letter.
Yes I think you are right about the wider pic on your reverse camera. As I said - mine isn't much chop -but better than nothing. Whats your thoughts on getting the car paint protected? I would go to a place that does it after market -as the car yards are a rip off -but there seems to be a lot of issue with the paint on these cars.
Also - I was looking through the site and found a post by you about the system you bid on and won off ebay -did you end up getting it - or were they really bad to deal with?
Filled up my car tonight for the first time - it was 551ks and another 40 till empty. I'm happy with that - not driving it too rough though.....how many ks do you get out of your tank?
I personally won't touch any paint protection products. I learnt that lesson the hard way with a black car I had many years ago- it came back with swirl marks under the paint protection..... You're better off just using a decent polish and wax regularly. If you drive mainly in the city areas I don't think the paint chipping will be much of a problem; I haven't noticed anything on mine in 6 months/ 4000km.
I did get that head unit in the end- it's the one in the pictures above. It was an option in the first series Kizashi (XLS model) so wasn't a "plug and play" affair as there were some differences in the wiring looms. I added the camera on myself as it wasn't included. The menu system on it can be a bit sluggish at times, but I'm very happy as I didn't have Bluetooth standard (owning the Touring model.)
I average 8.9l/100km on the trip computer in city/ suburban driving. In theory you should use a bit more with the heavier Sports model, AWD and CVT (mine's a 6sp manual.) It is a bit hilly where I live which knocks the economy a bit.

That's pretty damn good! I get around 550km from a full tank.
My average petrol consumption according to the computer is shocking, its current sitting at 11.5L/100km....
Hi D3lusion, yeah I think the stats are wrong on the cars fuel economy. What they say you can get and what you do get is vastly different. I'm hoping that it will get a little better once its worn in a little. Is yours manual or auto? Have you checked out a site called fuelly.com - they get you to put in your ks and cost of fuel as well as city vs freeway driving and it gives you your average fuel usage. Maybe its a little bit different with the figures - taking into account the cost of fuel etc - which the cars computer system doesn't. Im the first one to register a kizashi on the site - and you can also check out stats from other peoples cars.
