I love the manual Kiz! In any case using the paddles shifters seems to make the cvt version a little more brisk also naturally aspirated engines take a huge blow to their power and torque output at higher altitudes so perhaps that could be a reason why it isn't performing well enough.

Ambient temperature and altitude make a huge difference to the engine performance. Even with high performance engines, high ambient temperatures result in noticeably slower acceleration (speaking from personal experience).

Make sure your air-conditioning is off if you're trying to achieve the best possible time, also pick a perfectly level ground on a non windy very cold day. Get all your stuff out of the car and try to make the run with minimal fuel in the tank (maybe just under 1/4). Also make sure you weigh 70kg (most manufacturers test cars with average driver weight of 70kg and 5kg load in the boot). If you have any optional equipment installed, your car will never reach specified times as it's already heavier than factory tested (usually factory tested cars are skin & bones, so no options such as GPS/TV etc etc).

Good luck :)

I quit drag-racing some years back; my K is quick enough.

Skip the pulley; your K needs its dampner.

IMHO you've bought the wrong vehicle if 0-100km/h times matter to you. ;)

As Weshoot2 said, don't change your pulley. You're risking your engine failing prematurely by removing the factory pulley with it's built in vibration dampener.

I found that if I don't mash the throttle off the line it accelerates faster. You don't get that lag from the torque converter. I do about 50-60% throttle then once I feel the tranny is transferring 100% of the power I go WOT.

I think one thing to remember is that when you're used to the regular type of automatic, you may perceive better acceleration since you hear the engine rev and you associate acceleration with that as well as the g forces on your body. You mimic that when using the paddle shifters. When you have the CVT and you simply hear the roar of the engine and the pitch doesn't change, it takes the hearing sense of the acceleration away and you're left with only the actual physics of the thing. Only the stopwatch will really tell you what is the best way to get from 0-60. Now when driving more competitively, you can use the paddles to ALWAYS keep the engine in max HP and torque ranges. You will not have the lag of the CVT working to find the best ratio for you and so you'll get better performance.
