CVT Reprogram to drive style?

I have never had a definitative answer if the CVT learns the driver behavior. I had a legacy CVT before as some background info.
I'm curious to know the answer because when I am driving I'm typically always in front on stops. I think I must accelerate to fast and I'm wasting gas. I'm worried that if I do take off more efficiently the CVT will reprogram itself to be slooow. Any answers greatly appreciated.

That is a GREAT Question, I can't get use to the CVT my self (my first purchase of this type of trans). I feel when i acclerate it goes all the way to about 5-6k RPM and then i back off for fear of blowing the moter or something... :?

I do know that it gets better after the break-in period. Also I find that you can't mash the gas pedal cause that will just make it feel like your not going anywhere. I like mine although I wish it was consistent. Sometimes it gives me nice linear thrust, other times I feel I'm struggling to get up to speed. Since mine is used I wonder if it is learning my style.

My first CVT too. I think we just need to get used to it and learn how to operate the accelerator properly for the CVT. I think we would have just as much "fun" if we always had CVTs and then started driving a regular automatic.

I agree with you all about the cvt. Mine does seem to be performing better now its run in but also I think it's a matter of getting used to the cvt. Sometimes I find the straight line performance to be quite strong but sometimes I find there is a lot of noise for little reward.
I guess my general opinion is if your driving any type of auto, cvt or traditional auto, it's not really proper driving but almost lazy driving. I do find that with the Kizashi when I put it into semi auto mode it does seem to transform the car somewhat.

Whenever I use any automatic in "manual" mode, I forget to shift until I look down at the tach and find the engine screaming. :oops:

Don't get me wrong I like the CVT in our car, better than the legacy. Im not into the whole 0-60 time thing, because it doesn't accurately tell you how a car drives. An example is my wife had a 2007 Mazda 6 and that thing was getting slow 0-60 times all over the net but if felt a lot quicker than the listed times.

In addition to what I said earlier about my driving style I don't think I am using more gas I just think when the light turns green I'm more aware than the other drivers. I'm originally from jersey and now live in Iowa, drivers are less aware here.
