Excellent Fuel Economy
I am right on par with Firefly...my commute is about 13 miles with 3 stop lights and rather hilly terrain. If I was to just drive that route, my avg MPH would be 35-40 and I would see about 26 MPG. I generally do a little more stop and go and my avg MPH ends up being around 29-32 and I seem to get about 24-25 MPG. Good...not great...but I think it is pretty average. When I travel on the highway (in upstate NY mind you - generally pretty hilly)...I get close to 30 MPG, which is about as good as I can expect for an AWD car that has some added weight in it. I generally cruze at about 72-74 on a 65 highway.

I averaged 29 mph on my last tank and got an avg of 29.1 mpg. I find that good for this vehicle which is slightly less then the '12 legacy I had.
I don't pay much attention to the average speed number. It doesn't reflect driving habits like acceleration, or account for hills, frequency of stops, or reflect the extremes at each end of the speed range that were driven.ipaqxman wrote:...How DOES any city driving average at 21 mph!? You can drive at a steady 45mph on a trip and average 40mph when acceleration and slowing to stop are accounted for. You can drive several miles at 15mpg and then some highway at 70mph and average the same 40, but your fuel economy will most likely be lower.
It can be a confusing figure.

Pretty darn good for a car that leaps past eighty easily every time it's asked.

32.5 is very good. I was in for repairs at the dealership and they had some 2013 Mazda 3's with sticker saying 27 mpg. Actually they had different fuel stickers on a bunch of cars. Ranged 27-33. Its like they tested the cars with various options.WESHOOT2 wrote:Last tank, mixed Mobil and Sunoco 89 octane.

The best I have done is 29 mpg combined. I wonder if it is more the gas your using. Still decent fuel economy for an awd sedan.

On my daily commute, I usually get around 9.5-10L/100km and this is with 87. After I switch to 91, it is now around 8.5L/100KM. The only reason why i switched to 91 is cus 91 doesn't have any ethanol.
