You actually got that repaired and paid $700!?
I had something like that happen to me a while ago and I consulted a few pros about it. They told me I had two options:

1) A roughly $350 job to fill and repaint whole bumper.
OR
2) Touch-up paint for $15.

It's hard to tell from the picture but it's more of a gash than a scratch. It was caused by someone's front license plate bolt digging into the bumper while parking by braille.

The damage had to be filled and the entire bumper had to be prepped for repainting (no blending). $700 might seem high but maybe it's a regional thing.

Insurance covered it

I live in a college town filled with horrible drivers (go figure). The first month I had my car, some girl smashed the entire driver side door and some of the front fender. Crushed the door. She left a note though, with her moms phone number and the insurance agency's number. It took her an entire month to call the insurance agency to tell them what happened before they would get me a rental car and start fixing mine. Total damage was over 4,000 to have it all fixed.

The next month I came out and noticed a huge dent on the rear fender. I took up two spots for the rest of the semester. I got some "You're an asshole!" notes, but no more dents. Fair trade.

Bummer to see such a well-maintained Kizashi get all smacked up like that ! My condolences.

I just got my silver SLS a month ago and dread this kind of thing happening. I almost got the 6-speed manual myself, actually . There was a nice silver GTS 6spd in Chapel HIll NC at the Carmax recently. But ultimately, living in Portland OR, I really felt like I needed the AWD, plus I really like the leather and the sunroof, so I got the 2013 SLS in Kansas City and immediately put 2k miles on it in an epic road trip across the Western states.
It was a great way to get to know the car and these cars really do shine on the highways, I must say.

I could deal with a little more bass on the musical end of things though and, from everything I can gather, retrofitting the RF soundsystem with the Garmin navi is a beeyitch. Thinking about one of those Focal slimline floor subs instead.

Anyhoo, I'm from DC myself and yes the drivers there are case-studies in A.D.H.D and, but MAN nothing is worse than the criminally negligent nitwits out here in the NW who cannot, for the life of them, figure out that the left lane is for passing. For real, people here are shockingly ignorant of basic driving technique and etiquette.

The Kizashi is in the shop. I got a rental: 2014 Ford Fusion SE.
