Sweet! Check in the service manual under 'idle adjustment' or something to that effect and you should find a procedure to check the idle speed, and maybe adjust it. I'm betting the factory idle setting is just a little too low.

Will do. I'll advise when I find out.

Idle speed will be controlled by the ECU opening/ closing a stepper motor arrangement (usually called an IAC - Idle Air Control- valve. Suzuki may call it something else?)

Gone are the days of being able to adjust the idle speed without playing with the ECU software.

On one of my cars, there was a sequence of getting the car into a certain mode after disconnecting a few sensors. Then there was a hidden screw you could use and it would hold afterwards since the car was in the 'learn' mode.

There may be something similar for the Kizashi. The service manual seems to address certain procedures with and without the factory scan tool, so hopefully this is one of them.

I doubt there's any adjustment except to reprogram the ECU. Totally The car is totally drive by wire. There's no idle screw to set a throttle position. Wish I could add about 100 RPM to mine. It idles much smoother shifted into N at stops.

I played with turning the AC swtich on and off while the car was starting this morning. I noticed an almost 200rpm rise anytime the ac swtich was on.

It's interesting that this happens even during the initial warm-up.

Does yours also "jump" between RPM's when the AC is on and idling? Whenever the AC is on in my Kizashi, when I idle at a stoplight for example, the engine RPM's jump between 550 and 700RPM every minute or so. It's noticeable mostly because you can feel the engine vibration change abruptly every time it happens. I'm assuming it's because the AC compressor clutch engages and puts extra load on the engine.

I don't know. It's not gotten warm enough for us to even try the AC yet besides on defrost mode. But that does sound a bit normal.

I left mine to completely idle out without the ac on. It never got down to 500rpm.

Yes, it will be the compressor magnetic clutch cycling on/ off. My aircon's been getting a good workout -> three days over 40 degrees C , the highest being 43!

PS: The Kizashi's aircon works extremely well in those conditions. I had to increase the set temp to 25 because it was too cold.
