Yup, correct. Matsushita is just the name of the founder of the corporation in which Panasonic was a brand under. Same with National (rarely seen in the US, but plentiful in Japan). Panasonic was the name for smaller electronics (CD players, TVs, radios, etc.) while National was more for appliances (Refrigerators, washing machines, etc.)smsmart wrote: Panasonic has always been a Matsushita brand. Panasonic was the brand name that Matsushita created when they started exporting TV's to the US back in the 60's.
Recently, the corporation changed names from Matsushita to Panasonic.
They are also one of the biggest battery suppliers in the world and supply the batteries to Tesla's electric vehicles.
They are from Osaka, Japan which is close to my hometown of Kobe. In fact, my father used to be an English teacher to Panasonic employees back in the 80's. I like Panasonic and try to buy "local" when I can. Their high-end laptops are even built in my hometown of Kobe.
Sharp is also from Osaka.
