That would certainly cause a few fluid leaks!

Hallo,
thank you for your posts. it is verry difficult for me to read it, but the translatermashine helps me a little bit ;)
My friend has send a photo to me, so you can see, what i mean.
The problem with the cracks there were times on 1.6er UrVitara, but no one ever heart about a crack at the 2,4 litre mashine.

The site is located below the engine exhaust manifold, right next to the normally bolted plate above the oil filter.

Thank you all for answering :drive:

That is the actual "crack"- where it's leaking?

The 1.6l engine would be the G16 and has been mentioned on that other forum. I wouldn't think it is related at all to the J24B (as far as the block being the same.)

Has your friend tried approaching Suzuki regarding the problem? If the servicings are up to date they could push for Suzuki to "help out" with the costs.

Another option - you can buy products that are designed to seal leaks like that. "Chemiweld" is one that comes to mind. http://www.goss.com.au/products/13A I'd be trying that first- nothing to lose and it could be an extremely cheap fix. ;)

Did the owner try one of those chemical repairs first? It might have been cheaper to do that and replace it with a new vehicle.... :(

Probably a tad late to weigh in, but I've owned J-block suzukis for years.

The J24B is a derivitive of the J18 Baleno/Esteem and J20 kicker sport/ Vitara motor. I currently own a 1998 short wheelbase vitara with the J20a motor that has 250,000kms (155,000miles) and is still going HARD on the original engine. I also own a 2013 J24B Grand vitara, and a 2010 Kiz.

I've owned dozens of G and F-series suzukis over the years, and the only ones to have block cracking issues were the G16 16v Vitara/Kicker motors. The rest are very reliable.

I'd say this is a casting fault in the block. Nothing more.
