Lifeline seems like a really great brand. They have racing batteries that might work for the Kizashi application, but I'd check with them. Seems like they'll actually help you choose what's right. 8-)

Very cool to see a strong USA company making a premiere brand right here.

Be careful with some of the other AGM batteries as a lot are marketed as lightweight racing batteries - so they don't have the Amp/hour rating of something like the Optima's. I know a lot of the Braille batteries are like that.

IMHO the Odyssey line up would be worth a look. I think they're made in the USA still too? Just don't go for one of their tiny/ lightweight batteries. http://www.odysseybattery.com/

Good point about the Amp/hrs. I think the guys at Lifeline would have kept him in the green considering the pure replacement nature of his inquiry, but good info to keep in mind.

Racing batteries that are smaller are great for weight savings, but not what you want in the dead of winter after coming back from a week long work trip. It's why Braille's full-sized Lithium ion batteries are so much--just look at the Amp/hrs of those things! :o

Yes, the RV Lifeline one would be a proper deep cycle type I'd imagine. I'm not sure if they make starter batteries?

I was referring to a lot of the AGM lightweight versions around, even sold as generics these days. They have a high "pulse current" rating (which is rated for a lot shorter cranking time span than CCA - cold cranking amps) but they're not much good if you don't drive everyday and have clocks, head units, alarms, ECUs etc draining a small current 24/7.

I've found that most really good deep cycle batteries with ample ampage still work well as a starter battery. The Optima yellow top is the only one that I've found that specifically says it can be used as a starter battery, and it definitely works differently than the red top, as I drained one and couldn't get it to charge back up again.

The Red Top 35 that I have recently installed was, unfortunately, made in Mexico. We'll se how long she lasts. I've mainly seen yellow tops used in ORVs (Jeeps and the like) and mostly all were installed by their owners for winching purposes.

I think I may have a Mexican Optima from a few years back that's still going strong. I'll see if I can check it now that I'm curious.

Odyssey are made by someone else from what I recall. I've never been a fan of the DieHard series as they seemed more like buying a warranty vs a better product. Plus, I'm sure they're made by someone like Interstate.

Odyssey makes Odyssey and Die Hard Platinum, they're the same battery, just easier to find a Sears (which I have always had decent service from)
