I guess if you only drive short distances an EV would be OK.

so what are the going to do about the fact that they are all uglier than a mud fence in the rain? I'd rather have a Juke, and those things are UGLY!!!

The Leaf is very much a purpose-built car. Basically, a short-range commuter and a grocery-getter. Other than that, I can't see it being a great car to own. I think a lot of the people buying them are people who've come to realize that they drive so little or have short commutes that an EV does the job better (cheaper operating costs). I think most have it as a 2nd car as well.

Personally, I like cars too much to settle for something so appliance-like such as the Leaf as an only car. Not saying it's bad, but much like a Toyota Corolla, I'd rather not.
The only EV that really has me interested is the Tesla Model S. A perfect EV for me would be something between the Model S and the Nissan Leaf. Something affordable, but more interesting to drive and own than a Leaf. That's what I think the future 35K Tesla "Model G" should be like.

Until then, the only EV that will raise an eyebrow with me will be something like the Tesla Model S P85+.

P.S. Think the Leaf is ugly? The BMW i3 is hideous. It looks worse than the Leaf to me and it reminds me of the *gasp* Pontiac Aztec.
