I'm more and more inclined to buy this thing, especially after reading what I need to take apart to get to the power steering control module. On top of that, the models they're selling on eBay look pretty much identical to the drawings of the model in the Kizashi service manual.

I haven't heard of Aliexpress before...having dealt with eBay on numerous occasions, I think I'd be more comfortable buying through there.

I've made a few enquiries- with two sellers- and the responses are far from helpful (or possible even knowledgeable.) :?

Response number 1:
This item can not work on a 2004 Suzuki XL-7 2.7l V6 and 2011 Suzuki Kizash .
need any help, please feel free contact me.
Response Number 2:
Toyota can do only suzuki after 2006 year
The info on the genuine tool here: http://www.m2kinc.com/pdf/100-special_ins.pdf would indicate it would work with both of those vehicles (it does say North American models). Being in Australia could be an issue for me, but the same tool (to my knowledge) is used here eg: http://www.suzuki.com.au/owners/servici ... -equipment

That's what I'm worried about, software wise. The hardware looks like it should do the trick, but I don't know about the software. Although I think I saw somewhere that the GM-based Suzuki's from North America used a Bosch unit rather than the Denso unit. So it makes me think this is the right unit, but again, it probably all depends on the included software.

The problem with the link with the info on the genuine tool is that it's from 2007. It's plausible that things may have changed since then, especially since the Kizashi wasn't around yet.

The same tool is talked about in the Kizashi service manual. ;)

PS: The same tool is used for Toyota's - so it shouldn't be hard to sell if there are any problems.

I've found the actual Suzuki diagnostic software for download on various forums, but there's no guarantee it would work still. A few of the tool sellers also offer free software upgrades for 12mths.

There are also legitimate avenues to purchase the OEM supplied software for USA residents eg https://suzukipitstopplus.com/Products/ ... ption.aspx

Okay, much research has come up with this as being perhaps a better proposition:
http://www.x431shop.com/producttags/x431-idiag.html

It appears to be capable of doing everything the SDT can and is cheaper / more versatile.

(I've been in contact with a guy who has both tools and he's not too fussed with the clone SDT. He does only have an XL-7 though, so has only used them on that vehicle.)

I may have ordered an X431 Idiag. ;)

The Chinese new year means the delivery will be delayed.

What version did you maybe purchase...pad, mini other?

And, what's the deal w/ the software? It appears once you receive the hardware, you activate it and then download the software for your particular vehicle....at what additional cost? The whole half-translated process sounded kind of sketchy to me.

Hats off to you brave sir! I'm sure you'll provide a nice write-up of your thoughts and impressions of the experience/device/package.
