Hats off to you brave sir! I'm sure you'll provide a nice write-up of your thoughts and impressions of the experience/device/package.
Yeah I was gonna ask...how does the software work. Does it essentially mirror the Suzuki stuff?

Brave indeed! Let us know how it works! I was going to pull the trigger on the SDT, but if this works just as well, then it would make a heck of a lot of sense to just go with this.

You need to spend a bit of time reading it all.

I bought the Android version. (ie. this http://www.x431shop.com/wholesale/x431- ... droid.html ) It cost US$70 (plus delivery.)

Yes, the vehicle specific software costs you money. They sell it either as an expensive group purchase or individual brands at US$66 each. I own two Suzuki's so the $66 will cover both my vehicles- that's worked out well.

So for around US$140 it's not bad value IMHO. You're looking at something way beyond the capabilities of a normal generic OBD2 scanner- (from what I've been told) it will do almost everything the genuine Suzuki Diagnostic Tool can do. So, all the electronic systems on the vehicle- not just the engine/ trans. It should also show up Suzuki specific codes for the engine/ trans that the generic code readers don't display.

If you buy another vehicle it's not a useless pile of Suzuki specific junk. You pay your $66 and buy the software for your new vehicle.

Wow, this would be awesome! I'm very, very excited to hear about your results. There's nothing like having a dealership scan tool. 8-)

I remember when my friend Clint who has his own shop brought his Porsche tool over the holidays two years ago. He asked me if I wanted my brake light off (pads were worn). He tapped a button on his laptop and it was gone. 8-)

So, it's arrived.

I logged onto the Android Playstore to install the software only to discover the software is not compatible with my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 tablet. Not impressed.

It then gets better, the software requires access to your fine GPS location, camera, microphone, agenda.... Why? So they can knock your house over next time your agenda indicates you won't be home? Seriously, Google needs to clamp down on developers who do this sort of thing.

It keeps getting better! I got the X431 Idiag software onto my phone (huge 3.7" screen = awesome viewing  ) and found the Suzuki module.... there's no Kizashi listed in the models supported.

It's handy how all this info is hidden until after you buy their product! (You can't activate the Idiag Android software without entering the code supplied with their interface.) There is nothing anywhere I can find where supported models are listed.

Luckily, my other vehicle is listed. I'll take the (US$66) chance and hope it works on the Kizashi as well. I think you get updates for 12mths, so hopefully if the Kizashi doesn't work now, it will within that period.

I've sent an Email to the software developer about the problems (including Kizashi support).

Does the X431 do anything special? I skimmed through everything and it appears to be a generic scanner...? Correct me if I'm wrong!

Here's what I use for reading and clearing fault codes:
- Torque (Android): https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... torquefree
- Bluetooth OBD adapter: http://dx.com/en/p/mini-elm327-obd2-obd ... v44yXPTkm8

No, it's not a generic OBD2 scanner (ie. engine/ transmission only) - I wouldn't have bothered with it if that was the case. It can (supposedly) do all the vehicle's systems.
Start to diagnose car and choose the ECU type you want to test, X431 iDiag cover: Engine, A/T, ABS, SRS, Body Control Module, Vehicle Theft Deterrent, Instrument Panel Cluster and Radio.

Bummer that it doesn't work with the Kizashi. I guess the only tool so far is the real deal, which doesn't surprise me. Aftermarket shops would be all over compatible tools that are under $1000.

Let me download the software first. It should still perform the generic OBD2 stuff on the Kizashi - just possibly not the other systems. It will probably depend on how similar the Kizashi is to other Suzuki models in the CANBUS software set up as to what will work (eg. the SX4 is supported.)

Gotcha. I have a similar system for my VWs (VAGCOM/VCDS) but it requires a physical connection and PC software. A wireless solution that works on mobile devices would be amazing. Let us know how it goes!
