Woodie, those instructions did not work. What model year service manual was that? Maybe it needs the auto headlights?

Ok, so it took 2 days but here you go. Let me know if you need any clarification. I know there is probably a better way to do this but I don't know what it is and this way works so try it if you like.PittsburghJoe wrote:Hi Binary, binarycow wrote:Pittsburghjoe, I might be able to deal with the stock DRLs staying on, if I could wire the LEDs to be always on. How did you do it? Keep in mind I'm totally NOT a car guy or an electrical guy.

I'm working all day today but I can open the hood and take a pic tomorrow. It was pretty simple and I'm not a big electrical guy either. If you don't see a pic by tomorrow night feel free to message me direct and pester me until I do it. I'm excited to try the ridiculously long and complicated method of getting the stock DRLs off without disabling the high beams. I hope it works.

Cool. That makes me feel better about my work. Did you ever try that long system of turning off the factory DRLs? I'd like mine off it it works but haven't had time to try it yet.
I was just passing along something I read here previously, don't really know anything.binarycow wrote:Woodie, those instructions did not work. What model year service manual was that? Maybe it needs the auto headlights?

Maybe we can get an Aussie firmware update?

I've got a diagnostic tool on order that should be able to access any software type settings for the DRL's (if they are software controlled?) They're certainly controlled by the Body Control Module- the wiring diagrams verify that.
Stayed tuned....

How did I miss this in the service manual? Thank you for re-posting it! I hate DRLs.Woodie wrote:Here you go, it was posted by xj85:
Having read through the whole service manual I didn't find any way of getting to that mode either. However did find a way of turning the DRL's off for those who want to add LED's without messing their high beam lights.
)Push engine switch to change the ignition mode to “ON”.
2)Perform Steps a) through f) described below within 15 seconds after Step 1).
a)Turn lighting switch to CLEARANCE position.
b)Turn lighting switch to OFF position.
c)Repeat Steps a) and b) 4 times.
d)Turn lighting switch to HEAD position.
e)Turn lighting switch to OFF position.
f)Repeat Steps d) and e) 4 times.
3)When Step 2) is completed, the mode changes automatically. Warning buzzer (in combination meter) sounds by the specified number for each mode as follows.
•Changed from “Non-operable” mode to “Operable” mode: Buzzer sounds twice.
•Changed from “Operable” mode to “Non-operable” mode: Buzzer sounds once.
4)After confirming buzzer, push engine switch to change the ignition mode to “OFF”.
I guess this needs to go in DIY section too.
This looks very, very similar to the procedure for getting the car in tpms re-learn mode (except that it's the light switch that's moved 4 times), and that procedure is VERY precise. If you don't get it the first time, you'll have to try again. What's interesting is that the Kizashi TPMS relearn procedure was the same as the sx4, so this could also be from another Suzuki product and work on the Kizashi.
