Hey guys, just wanted to start a thread with information on my progress as I get that Service Manual fully portable.
I would like to prioritize what platforms I will put more time towards and need a way to find out if this community is Windows, OSX or Linux (and variants) dominant.
I can assume that it would be Widows due to the cheaper hardware and availability of said hardware compared with MacBooks (I only got mine via my school).
And so, as a way to keep track, I'm not seeing an option for a survey, at least not yet, I will provide a link to an external website that will track that for me.
Whoever sees this thread is welcome to vote and will only help me prioritize where I need to.

My goal is to make the archive as small as possible, while including the browser and keeping compatibility as high as possible.

Edit:

Survey is up, if you browse here and are interested in this, I urge you to fill it out.
Just one question really.

Edit by murcod - added a forum based poll .

Thank you for doing this. Survey taken. 8-)

Any chance of making a Linux livecd with everything on it? That would be the ultimate!

That is planned, I have a bit of experience there, but will have to prioritize according to the survey.
Who knows, it could be Linux firsts instead of Windows depending on the community.

Well, anything works for me as long as it is what it benefits us all.

Avluis - hope you don't mind, I added a forum based poll to your post. ;)

PS: How about Android? :) Just joking.

I don't mind, but I'll just combine the results from the survey and the poll, so if you voted in the survey then ignore the poll and vice-versa.

And for android (I am familiar with application development), I would have to extract the data and build a database with it.
It is structured in xml so I can build a few scripts to do the heavy lifting once I get their overall structure so technically it is possible to get the manual onto mobile platforms.

This, of course, requires me to study it even more closely and will take me much longer to put together, and so the reason why I am mostly worried about creating an offline version first.

But yes, it is possible, granted I will probably ask for a donation or two, or make it a free app for members of the forum and/or provide a discount on the app store.
Anyways, thinking way ahead. But don't lose hope there, I am a Nexus 5 user, and would love to have it on my Nexus 7 (2013) as well.
So time will tell!

I voted in both, but only because they both are asking two different questions. 8-)

 I cut straight to the chase with the forum question.

PS: Avluis, you should be able to edit the question- if you want to?

Hey guys, heads up, I am moving so server will be down for a week or so, waiting for cable (money robbers) company to install the net on the new apartment and it will be back up.
Not too worried thought. I am making really good progress with the offline manual and I should have a build up by tomorrow night for you guys to test.
Windows will be first then I'll look at the survey again and see where osx and Linux stand.
Take care.

Edit:
I have a working setup and just need to upload it to Dropbox, only thing is that I have to use my cell phone to do so.
Once it is up, I'll be posting the link.

7zip for now, to save upload bandwidth, but once my internet is up I will be offering zip archives as well.
This thread is now open for test reports. Test away.
