I realise that this is a well documented subject. And that the search function will reveal all. I have looked, and not found a direct answer.
My Kizashi is Brand new. 350kms old as I type this. It is black. The same black as they painted my Sv1000, bike.
Never before have I seen paint, with so many little scratches in the clear coat. I have read all about the stone chips. But no one seems to mention, the scratches.
I am guessing it is related to the stone chips.
Has anyone had any luck in getting a claim out of Suzuki, for faulty paint?
Am I being paranoid. Will a cut and polish remove them?
Many thanks.
Paint.
It's black paint, swirl marks will be your nemesis.
That said, it does indeed seem this paint is "softer" than my other cars'. It needs to be clay barred every time I wax it, where with my other cars, that was only needed every couple of times.
I have not heard any successful claims for anything other than the chips, and even that has been really hit and miss depending on the dealer and regional service person.

Those fine scratches are swirl marks and are a separate issue from rock chips. A cutting compound and polish before waxing should get rid of most of them

On my other cars, a cleaner wax and polishing pad is usually sufficient to mask most swirls and provide some gloss, but the Kizashi's paint is terrible. I'm buying a cutting compound and pad just for it

Hi Boman,
I have a kizzy thats a 2013 model. I dislike the qualityof paint work on my car too...Its probably my biggest gripe- the bad quality of paint. I think that's why they offer the "suzuki smart start" program -which they give you a free one year membership to. It entitles you to call out the paint touch up company - that comes out and repairs up to 20 stone chips for $88.00. I had it done before the 1 year mark -as my car was covered in chips every where - I counted over 45. After that I wrapped the bonnet ( see my threads for updated pics of the car with it done) and Im so much happier with the wrap. The guy that came out and did the repairs admitted to me that the paint work "was not the best" on suzukis.

Has anyone found and alternative to the manufacturer's hood deflector or bonnet. My paint is chipping and I want to nip it in the butt now. The only thing I can find is the clear protective film on ebay. Anyone have a experience with this stuff?

I got a roll of the protective film when I first bought my Kizzy and cut it myself. Made a mistake with the first piece. There was a air bubble so I made a small cut (about 1 inch) from the edge to the air bubble, now dirt collects on the cut. The rest of the film I let sit overnight and the air bubbles disappeared except for two that I was able to squeegee that morning. Best thing I did no chips and the bugs come off easier than on the unprotected parts.joshuac2651 wrote:Has anyone found and alternative to the manufacturer's hood deflector or bonnet. Clear bras have been around for years. The risk of cheaper films is that they might yellow overtime. 3M is a popular brand. A local detailer here is pushing a new product called Xpel Ultimate. Plenty of options out there!joshuac2651 wrote:Has anyone found and alternative to the manufacturer's hood deflector or bonnet. My paint is chipping and I want to nip it in the butt now. Okay thanks for the info. I did find a Bonnet but I like the way the car looks without it. So, I'll probably go with the film.
