"When you pull the relay for the DRL's you disable the high beams."
This is a common issue with DRL systems; do some experimenting. On Saturn L series, you could disable the DRL by clipping (or bending out of the way) one of the blades. I'm not sure what the cost of DRL relays are, but if they are fairly inexpensive, you could try bending different pins away until you get the desired result, then post the successful result :)

Thanks for your thorough instructions. I just did mine with LEDs from Dealextreme.

Did you figure out how to get the high beams to work again?

After I get caught up on all my mods I plan to do this. I know alot of tuners use the oem audi S6 led's. IMO nothing can beat the oem audi lights. Here's a pic of the lights & the oem S6, just another option for us:

I used to have an SX4 and bought put a projector housing in from the retrofit source. It was scary to first take them apart but after doing it is say its about as hard as taking the bumper off. That is if you follow the instructions and do it right it's easy. This was a great write up and if anyone is considering doing this ill pass on a link to another walk through for the sx4. It's goes a is talking about retrofitting projectors but does a great job of showing how to take any head lights apart. Great job again on the write up, I'm thinking of putting projectors for the high beams, if I do I'll do one as well.

Looks great! I've already got the LEDs to do mine. Probably going to do it over the weekend.
I have one question for you: why did you not just take the power from the existing DRL? My thought would be to cut the wire to the factory DRL and splice the new LEDs to that power and ground.

The existing DRL is the high beam on a lower voltage. If you do what you propose, you wouldn't have high beam any more.

Interesting you say that. Mine does not appear to be set up that way. I have 3 separate bulbs. Low, high, and DRL. My DRL never turn off no matter what combination of low/high/off I try. When the car is on, so are the DRL. Am I missing something here?? You can see my very yellow DRL in the pic. High beam bulb is above it, off. Low beam are on in the right side of the photo.

Sorry, picture posted sideways. High beams are to the left of the DRL in the sideways pic. Low beams are on top.

Well that's different and actually something I want to do. The stock DRLs are the high beam H7 bulbs at a lower voltage.

Did you buy your car used? I wonder what was done to achieve that
