Ours is the Kenwood Navi too, so same system. In fact, I think you shared your settings with me for me to get mine to sound right in the first place. 8-)

Interesting info on tweeter placement. I always thought the 2-way/3-way speakers put the tweeter in the middle more for cost savings than proper sound design.

True that you don't really need a rear sound stage when the sound is in front of you, but on recordings where the imaging is supposed to surround you, or even when comparing with cars that have a more equal sound stage for the front and rear, the system just sounds off-balance.

What I hear is everything up front with a wide stage like you've mentioned. Even if I fade to the back, it is hard to get the stage to go past the rear of the seat. It's like there's no stage in the rear at all. I haven't sat in the back enough to remember the staging back there, but I'm beginning to think it's gotta sound terrible.

Wow. I never knew that listening to a hockey game on AM radio was so complicated!

There was this one rock and roll station out of Nashville that was so popular they were on both AM and FM. And there was only 1 radio station in the HSV area, so someone got a translator to broadcast it in the HSV area.

In my opinion, AM is really intended for talk radio. Music sounds horrible on AM and most AM stations are either political, religious, or sports talk show stations.
I personally hate the sound of people talking so I never listen to AM.
To me, it's only good for emergency broadcasts.

Do you think the speakers in the rear being in the doors rather than the rear shelf has something to do with that?

I sat in the back recently and found that my settings made it pretty loud back there.

Recently sit in the back and noticed the right speaker sounded louder than the left even with neutral settings. Anyone notice that or...

Same here. I have my setting centered close to the left and just forward of center front-back.

That on-screen controller is really funky. The Kenwood-RF pairing is kind of funky overall.

I sat an hour and half waiting for my wife--I should have thought of listening more accurately to the system from the back. :(

I will definitely have to check this out. I wonder if it was done on purpose to make a better soundstage for the driver?
