Rear shock failed

Anything related to the Kizashi can go here, but please look at the other headings first. Your topic may fit better under something else.

Great comparison shot! Those grooves are very easy to see now.

Does it look like the stop fits a certain way so the grooves will alway be in a certain location? Or will they be random depending how everything was assembled?

I'm thinking random as the locations of the grooves don't match the other bump stopper on the other side of the car.

That's what I was thinking too, but was hoping there might be a pattern. :(

Definitely random based on how the bump stop inserts into the strut mount

Just got my clunking rear shock replaced at the dealer today. Took them about 1:30 and no cost to me. I was very satisfied by the way they handled everything. I also once again love the handling of my Kizashi. I forgot how great the handling is! I guess the shock broke down gradually and I didn't realize the loss of handling. I bought the extended warranty (which I keep going back and forth on regretting) but I wonder if this happens on the other side and there is a TSB on it would it still be covered if over 36K and no extended warrantee?

Did they replace both sides or just the faulty side?

I don't think it matters. It all about having the water drain out. The grooves are supposed to facilitate that.

They only replaced the faulty side. I posted earlier but don't mind writing again. When I first took the car in I asked the service manager about replacing both since one will have 30k on it and the other 0 and he informed me that he has to send the faulty parts back to Suzuki or they won't reimburse him so he could only do the one side under warranty unfortunately.

My bad. Reading comprehension > me. Thanks for sharing the additional info about the reimbursement though! I guess my Pam trick won't cut it
