air vent piece
Could you show us a picture?
For most cars I'd say take a trip to the junk yard. But because there are few Kizashi's in junk yards I'd check online for a junk yard with a Kizashi and request the whole vent. I found my Kizashi steering wheel online in minutes. Two days later it was delivered.

That's what I'm thinking it might be as well, and that would mean the whole vent would need to be replaced.bootymac wrote:Sounds like the knob that controls the direction of the vents
I have no idea where to get replacements. Didn't even think they'd come off
The reason I'm so interested is because my Boxster actually had a tsb because of this exact same issue, kinda. It was the part that is on the back of the 'slider' that would become unglued and fall out, and then the control wouldn't work anymore. It was a subtle issue, but plagued quite a few cars.
In my other cars my wife would constantly point the vents at her to cool off then push the vent away from her. Then in a few minutes point the vents at her to cool off then push the vent away from her. Over & over until the vent was worn out and the veins would just become so loose they would flap down closing off the vent. Then complain about those cheap vents. I tried to tell her to use the air volume control instead. She did a few times then resort to old habits. I had to replace or semi-fix many vents. That one of the reasons I bought the Kizashi because of the duel climate control.

Unless you can salvage the piece off a wrecked Kizashi, replacing the entire "deflector" might be your only choice. Here's a diagram and some part numbers that might help:

Yep, that's what they had to do on my Porsche. Took almost a month for parts to come in.bootymac wrote:Unless you can salvage the piece off a wrecked Kizashi, replacing the entire "deflector" might be your only choice. Here's a diagram and some part numbers that might help:

And I'll bet it screws into the back of the dashboard, after you remove the entire dashboard. Big job, twice, once in the junkyard for practice and then once on your own car.

Yep, it definitely looks that way--there's places for screws on the piping to connect to the back of the vent. Ripping out the vent from the front would leave the piping flopping.Woodie wrote:And I'll bet it screws into the back of the dashboard, after you remove the entire dashboard.
