I am too. Glad they are not though! Although the guy at the shop talks to me like I am paying out of my own pocket for this. It honestly wouldn't surprise me though if this guy isn't communicating with the insurance company.
To those that are saying that my rental goes by the alloted amount of mine or theirs insurance, that is incorrect. If I had a truck or Minivan or if I even if I wanted a mid sized car then the other insurance would be responsible to pay that. In my case having a compact is more benefical to me because of the better gas mileage.

Incorrect. Case in point, my Accord spent over a month in the auto body shop after getting slammed by a school bus. The other insurance "allowed" up to $35 a day for a car. A lot can fit into the $35 a day category depending on the company (usually Enterprise) and inventory . I was stuck in a Grand Caravan because that was all they had. But in the end, they were only getting paid $35 a day.
My understanding is that they're supposed to give you the same class of vehicle as your own in the shop. Hence, when some girl side-scraped my Kizashi, I got a Ford Fusion. However, when my former Mazda3 was rear-ended, Enterprise couldn't get me a compact car in time despite driving me to two different locations looking for one. They ended up giving me the fully-loaded Chrysler Town&Country they were driving me around in.
I had it for about 2~3 weeks and after that experience, I was sold on how awesome minivans actually are. I now try to talk every young mother of 2+ kids out of a 3rd row SUV and into a minivan instead. They are just so much better for hauling people.

Doesn't matter what the other insurance "allowed". Insurance companies aren't your friend and are going to try to keep cost down of any claim. What they tell you and what you can get are actually two very different things. They aren't upfront about diminshed value either.
I could have easily gone to my own insurance and just gotten a rental throught them. My insurance would turn around and get the money for my rental from the other insurance.
