I have not posted in a very long time, so here is an update before I pitch my questions. My 2012 Kiz SLS AWD has 52,350 miles. No major problems. Obsessive about maint, regularly changing the synthetic blend oil very 5k. I friggin' baby this car. This past winter put dedicated winter tires (Hankook Winter icept EVO). This Kiz performed fantastically in all types of precipitation from this past harsh PA winter. At about 48k, I had the CVT fluid changed. From my experience, the car requires frequent alignment checks/adjustments. Only significant complaint. Anyway, I checked my engine oil level the other day and noticed that it was slightly above the 1/2 mark between the two dots (after about 2500 miles since my last change). My Kiz has never leaked or burned oil. Has this happened to anyone else? Should I be concerned? BTW, I am a pretty gentle driver, so I rarely mash the gas or the brakes. I plan on driving this car until at least 150k.

I'm going to state the obvious here, was the car standing for at least 30 minutes before you checked the oil ?

Yes, sir. Checked after plenty of time for oil to settle.

How much oil did you fill it with? Was it at the full mark before?

Was the car on a level surface when you checked the oil?

Also, I find about a 0.5 quart oil burn off to be normal for my Kizashi between my 7500 mile oil change intervals. I use full synthetic Pennzoil Platinum. I noticed similar burn off when I used Mobil 1. I commute about 35 miles a day, often in city driving conditions with heavy congestion. I'm at 39,000 miles.

Thanks for the input/questions. Just to clarify, the car was level and at the full mark originally. Thanks, Kuro for this reply. My mechanic has informed me that Suz vehicles tend to burn a bit of oil (from her experience).

My Kizz with 50,000 miles also uses about .5 quart of oil between my 7,000-8,000 oil changes which I consider normal. My Toyota Corolla consistently has used about the same for it's first 195,000 miles.

My Olds Silhouette @150,000 miles burns and leaks about 2 quarts every 700 miles. After driving it you can smell the oil burning on the exhaust pipe. I have searched for the leak and took it to two shops specifically to have them find the oil leak. One shop guessed the rear main seal. I had the rear main seal replaced when I replaced the transmission @95,000 miles still no difference. The Silhouette is the last American designed vehicle I have bought. I can not afford another.
